Discovered by the indigenous Mohawk tribe, the falls were originally called Ga-ha-oose or Ga-ho'n'-yoos, which is believed to mean "The Place of the Falling Canoe.
Troy–Waterford Bridge
The Troy–Waterford Bridge carries U.S. Route 4 across the Hudson River in New York connecting Waterford with Troy. The bridge is two lanes wide, with sidewalks on both sides. The bridge serves as a replacement for the 1804-built Union Bridge, which was burned in a fire on July 10, 1909.

WHAZ is a Christian radio station licensed to Troy, New York and serves New York's Capital District. The station is owned by the locally-based Capital Media and broadcasts on 1330 kHz at 1 kilowatt daytime, 49 watts nighttime from a transmitter located on Van Schaick Island in the neighboring city of Cohoes. WHAZ's programming is also simulcasted on four FM stations on the fringes of the market.

Cohoes City Hall is located at 97 Mohawk Street in the city of Cohoes, New York, United States. It combines elements of the Chateauesque and Romanesque Revival architectural styles popular when it was built in 1896. J.C. Fuller, the Kansas state architect at the time, was chosen for his experience in designing public buildings. It is a contributing property to the Downtown Cohoes Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
