The prison is co-located with the "Central New York Psychiatric Center", where incarcerated prisoners from state and local jurisdictions can be held and treated, and the Mid-State Correctional Facility.
Mid-State Correctional Facility
Mid-State Correctional Facility is located in the Town of Marcy, between the cities of Rome and Utica in New York State. Before Mid-State was a prison, it was a hospital for both the mentally ill and mentally handicapped. There was a so called “25-year building spree” in the prison system, when the number of prisoners dramatically increased. This was when Mid-State opened in 1983. Mid-State has grown and now includes maximum security blocks.
WUSP
WUSP and WRCK are AM radio stations operating at 1550 kHz and 1480 kHz and located in Utica, New York and Remsen, New York respectively. The stations are currently owned by Ken Roser, with a current local marketing agreement in place to sell the station to Good Guys Broadcasting. In July 2010, the stations added an FM simulcast in W238CA 95.5 FM in Middleville and rebranded as B95.5 and now transmitting/licensed from atop Smith Hill in Deerfield. It is currently branded as 95.5 WUSP.
