Tribes Hill, New York
Tribes Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Towns of Mohawk (80%) and Amsterdam (20%) in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 1,003 at the 2010 census. The name is based on this location having been a gathering spot for the Mohawk nation, the dominant Iroquois tribe in the area during colonial times. Tribes Hill spans the border of the Town of Mohawk and Town of Amsterdam about 5 miles west of the City of Amsterdam on Route 5.
Schoharie Creek
Schoharie Creek in New York, USA flows north 93 miles from the foot of Indian Head Mountain in the Catskill Mountains through the Schoharie Valley to the Mohawk River. It is twice impounded north of Prattsville to create New York City's Schoharie Reservoir and the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project. Two notable bridge collapses have occurred on the Schoharie Creek. In 1987, two spans of the New York State Thruway collapsed.

Auriesville is a hamlet in the northeastern part of the town of Glen in Montgomery County, New York, United States, along the south bank of the Mohawk River. It lies about forty miles west of Albany, the state capital. A Jesuit cemetery is located there. Auries was the name of the last Mohawk known to have lived there. Settlers named the village after him. The Mohawk called the place Ossernenon, also Gandawaga and Caughnawaga. The latter name was also given to a northern settlement on the St.

In the 18th century, Fort Hunter was built as a fort near the location of one of the two primary Mohawk settlements. The Mohawk name for the village was rendered variously in English as Teantontalago, Thienderego, Tionondorage, and Tiononderoga.
Schoharie Creek Bridge collapse
The Schoharie Creek Bridge was a New York State Thruway bridge over the Schoharie Creek near Fort Hunter, in New York State. On April 5, 1987 it collapsed due to bridge scour at the foundations after a record rainfall. The collapse killed ten people. The failure of the Schoharie Creek Bridge motivated the improvement in the development of bridge design and inspection procedures.
