Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst
Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, the common name of the Lakehurst unit of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, is a United States Navy base located approximately 25 miles east-southeast of Trenton, New Jersey. Lakehurst is under the jurisdiction of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). It was consolidated with two adjoining Army and Air Forces facilities to became part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) on 1 October 2009.
Hindenburg disaster
The Hindenburg disaster took place on Thursday, May 6, 1937, as the German passenger airship LZ 129 Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, which is located adjacent to the borough of Lakehurst, New Jersey. Of the 97 people on board (36 passengers, 61 crew), there were 35 fatalities; there was also one death among the ground crew.

The Cathedral of the Air is a Norman-Gothic cathedral in Lakehurst, New Jersey. It was conceived by Reverend Gill Robb Wilson, one-time National Chaplain of the American Legion, and is intended to serve the military personnel serving at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
