Hopewell Township is a township in Cumberland County, New Jersey, in the United States. It is part of the Vineland-Millville- Bridgeton Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area for statistical purposes. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 4,571, reflecting an increase of 137 (+3.1%) from the 4,434 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 219 (+5.2%) from the 4,215 counted in the 1990 Census.

The Cohansey River (also called Cohansey Creek) is a 30.6-mile-long river in southern New Jersey in the United States. The river drains approximately 108 square miles of rural agricultural and forested lowlands on the north shore of Delaware Bay. It rises in central Salem County, approximately 5 miles southeast of Woodstown, and flows south, through rural Cumberland County.

Cohansey Township, New Jersey
Cohansey Township was a township that existed in Cumberland County, New Jersey, United States, during two separate periods, from 1697-1748 and from 1848-1865. The name was derived from the Cohansey River, which flows through the area. The first Cohansey Township was mentioned dating back to May 12, 1697, while the area was still part of Salem County. This first incarnation was dissolved upon the formation of Cumberland County on January 19, 1748.
