Rowley is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Rowley in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,416 at the 2010 census.
The Governor's Academy
The Governor's Academy (formerly Governor Dummer Academy) is an independent school located on 450 acres in the village of Byfield, Massachusetts, United States; 33 miles north of Boston. The Academy enrolls approximately 385 students in grades nine through twelve, 70% of whom are boarders. The school was established in 1763 and is the oldest continuously operating independent boarding school in the nation.
Egypt River
The Egypt River is a stream in Ipswich, Massachusetts, United States. The river is formed by the confluence of Bull and Dow brooks below their reservoirs, and in turn joins the Muddy River and then the Rowley River, which empties into the Plum Island Sound. The Rowley River runs through salt marshes, in which it forms a narrow and winding inlet about 5.5 miles in total length. The name Egypt River is recorded as early as 1635. In early colonial times, it was also termed the North River.
Rowley (MBTA station)
Rowley is the penultimate passenger rail station along the Newburyport Branch of MBTA Commuter Rail's Newburyport/Rockport Line. The official address is given by MBTA as 70 Railroad Avenue, although it is actually located north of Railroad Avenue between Depot Way and Oyster Pond Road. Parking is available on the north side of Railroad Avenue between Depot Way and the railroad tracks.
