Orono is a census-designated place (CDP) consisting of the eastern portion of the town of Orono in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population of the CDP was 9,474 at the 2010 census.
Alfond Arena
Alfond Arena is a 5,124-seat multi-purpose arena in Orono, Maine, USA. The arena opened in 1977. It is home to the University of Maine Black Bears ice hockey and basketball teams. It is recognizable for its distinctive hyperbolic parabloid architecture. Stillwater River (Maine)
The Stillwater River is an 11.5-mile-long side channel of the Penobscot River in Maine. From its source in Old Town, the Stillwater runs 2.3 miles northwest along the northeast side of Orson Island, the site of the Penobscot Indian Reservation. It then runs 9.2 miles south along the west sides of Orson and Marsh islands, over three dammed falls. The stream rejoins the main stem of the Penobscot in Orono.
