Monroe County, Indiana
Monroe County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana, and determined by the U.S. Census Bureau to include the mean center of U.S. population in 1910. The population was 137,974 at the 2010 census. The county seat is Bloomington. Monroe County is part of the Bloomington, Indiana, Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Bloomington, Indiana
Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of Monroe County in the southern region of the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the Monroe County History Center, Bloomington is known as the "Gateway to Scenic Southern Indiana. " The city was established in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Virginia who were so impressed with "a haven of blooms" that they called it Bloomington. The population was 80,405 at the 2010 census.
Kirkwood Observatory
Kirkwood Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Indiana University. It is located in Bloomington, Indiana (USA). It is named for Daniel Kirkwood (1814 - 1895) an astronomer and professor of mathematics at Indiana University who discovered the divisions of the asteroid belt known as the Kirkwood Gaps. Built in 1900 and dedicated on May 15, 1901, the observatory was thoroughly renovated during the 2001-2002 academic year.

Bloomington High School South (sometimes BHSS or simply South) is a high school in Bloomington, Indiana. The school currently uses a schedule consisting of three 12-week trimesters. Each class period is 65 minutes, with a 45-minute SRT period on Mondays, 45-minute Panther Plus Periods on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. SRT is essentially a homeroom and Panther Plus Periods are a time for students to get help with classes they are struggling with.

Bloomington New Tech High School (soon to be renamed "The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship") is a high school in Bloomington, Indiana, United States which utilizes Project Based Learning. Opened in fall 2008 with a class size of 96 students, the school will serve students in 9th-12th grades, adding a class each year, with up to 100 students per grade. As of May 2009, the class of 2012 has 50-65 students. The school has a 1:1 student to computer ratio.
