Venice, Los Angeles

Venice is a beachfront neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is known for its canals, beaches and circus-like Ocean Front Walk, a two-and-a-half-mile pedestrian-only promenade that features performers, fortune-tellers, artists, and vendors. Venice was home to some of Los Angeles' early beat poets and artists and has served as an important cultural center of the city.

Muscle Beach

Muscle Beach refers to either the Original Muscle Beach on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier, or Muscle Beach Venice, located two blocks north of Venice Boulevard on Ocean Front Walk in Venice, California. Muscle Beach derives its name from the strength required to practice acrobatics and bodybuilding.

Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center is a literary arts center located at 681 Venice Blvd. Venice, California, founded in 1968. The Center launched its own imprint, Beyond Baroque Books, in 1998, dedicated to emerging, overlooked, out of print, and experimental writing, as well as the history and legacy of experimental and alternative writing, poetry, and the arts in Los Angeles. 72 Market Street Oyster Bar and Grill was a popular Venice, California restaurant founded in 1983 and launched by Tony Bill and Dudley Moore.
