National Assembly for Wales
The National Assembly for Wales (Welsh: Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru) is a devolved assembly with power to make legislation in Wales. The Assembly comprises 60 members, who are known as Assembly Members, or AMs (Aelod y Cynulliad). Members are elected for four-year terms under an additional members system, where 40 AMs represent geographical constituencies elected by the plurality system, and 20 AMs from five electoral regions using the d'Hondt method of proportional representation.
Wales Millennium Centre
Wales Millennium Centre (Welsh: Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru) is an arts centre located in the Cardiff Bay area of Cardiff, Wales. The site covers a total area of 4.7 acres . Phase 1 of the building was opened during the weekend of the 26–28 November 2004 and phase 2 opened on 22 January 2009 with an inaugural concert. The centre has hosted performances of opera, ballet, dance, comedy and musicals. The Centre comprises one large theatre and two smaller halls with shops, bars and restaurants.
Butetown
Butetown (or The Docks, Welsh: Tre-Biwt) is a community in the south of the city of Cardiff, the capital of Wales. It was originally a model housing estate built in the early nineteenth century by John Crichton-Stuart, 2nd Marquess of Bute, for whose title the area was named. Commonly known as "Tiger Bay", this area became one of the UK's first multicultural communities with people from over 50 countries settled here by the outbreak of World War I, working in the docks and allied industries.
Taff Trail
The Taff Trail is a popular walking and cycle path that runs for 55 miles between Cardiff Bay and Brecon in Wales. It is named so because it follows the course of the River Taff. Along much of its length, it follows the National Cycle Network Route 8 that continues to Holyhead, and is substantially off-road.
Cardiff Bay Opera House
Cardiff Bay Opera House was a proposed centre for the performing arts in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, Wales, conceived in the 1990s as a crucial part of the Cardiff Bay redevelopment project. One aim was of the scheme was the creation of a new home for the Welsh National Opera company, which was then based in the New Theatre in Cardiff. The Wales Millennium Centre was built in its place and it opened in 2004.
The Point, Cardiff
The Point was a church-turned-popular music venue in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, Wales. The Point was situated in the old merchant's quarter of Mount Stuart Square. The square was named after Lord Mount Stuart, who represented Wales in Parliament during the Napoleonic period. The focal point of the square was a church, constructed around 1900, that would later be turned into The Point. The church was constructed in 1900 to replace a temporary iron frame church and opened as the chapel of St. Mary's.

Cardiff Bay railway station
Cardiff Bay railway station, formerly Cardiff Bute Road, is a station serving the Cardiff Bay and Butetown areas of Cardiff, Wales. It is the southern terminus of the Butetown Branch Line 1 mile (1.5 km) south of Cardiff Queen Street. Only one platform is now in use, with the station building itself effectively abandoned. The station building lies on Bute Street, although the rest of the station remains visible from the nearby Lloyd George Avenue.
Senedd
The Senedd, also known as the National Assembly building, houses the debating chamber and three committee rooms for the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff. The 5,308 square metres Senedd building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 1 March 2006 and the total cost was £69.6 million, which included £49.7M in construction costs. The Senedd is part of the National Assembly estate that includes Tŷ Hywel and the Pierhead Building.
Roald Dahl Plass
Roald Dahl Plass (Welsh: Plas Roald Dahl) is a public plaza in Cardiff Bay, part of Cardiff, Wales. It is named after Cardiff-born author Roald Dahl, and is located on the coast along the south of the city centre. The square is home to the Senedd and the Wales Millennium Centre, a performing arts centre. The bowl-like shape of the plaza has made it a popular amphitheatre for hosting open-air concerts.

Techniquest
Techniquest is a Welsh science and discovery centre. It has locations in Cardiff Bay, Glyndŵr University (formerly known as NEWI) in Wrexham, Llanberis in Gwynedd, and the Adventure Centre in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. Techniquest was first established in Cardiff in 1986. Techniquest gives visitors a hands-on approach to science and includes a science theatre, a planetarium, and a discovery centre.
Pierhead Building
The Pierhead Building (Welsh: Adeilad y Pierhead) is a Grade 1 listed building of the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff Bay, Wales. It stands as one of the city of Cardiff's most familiar landmarks and was built in 1897 as the headquarters for the Bute Dock Company. The clock on the building is unofficially known as the "Baby Big Ben" or the "Big Ben of Wales", and also serves as a Welsh history museum.
Tŷ Hywel
Tŷ Hywel is named after Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good) and is used by the National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff, Wales. Previously it was known as Crickhowell House and was named after Lord Crickhowell. It is also informally known as the Assembly Office and houses Assembly Members of the National Assembly for Wales and their staff, and staff of the Assembly Commission. The Welsh Government also operates from the building and occupies one floor.
Mermaid Quay
Mermaid Quay is a waterfront shopping and leisure district in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, Wales. The 14,000 sq m (150,000 sq ft) development was opened in 1999, and includes restaurants, bars, cafes and shops.
A4234 road
The A4234, also known as the Central Link Road, is a spur off of the A4232 in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. It links the southern part of Cardiff city centre to the motorway network. The length of the A4234 is just 1.45 km and is entirely a two lane dual carriageway with clearway restrictions. The road was opened on 16 February 1989.
Red Dragon Centre
The Red Dragon Centre is an indoor entertainment complex in southern Cardiff, the capital of Wales. It was originally known as the Atlantic Wharf Leisure Village, when it opened in 1997. The complex features restaurants, cafés, a Hollywood Bowl with arcade amusements, an Odeon multiplex cinema, a casino and an on-site car park. It is located in the Cardiff Bay area, opposite the Wales Millennium Centre. This is close to the A4232 and near Cardiff Bay railway station.
Lloyd George Avenue
Lloyd George Avenue is an avenue in Cardiff, Wales. Roughly one mile long, the road links the Inner Harbour of Cardiff Bay to Cardiff city centre and forms part of the A470 road. It runs parallel to Bute Street and the Butetown Branch Line. Landscaping on the route was completed in 2000, and Collingdon Road was renamed after Liberal prime minister David Lloyd George.
Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve
Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve is located in Cardiff Bay in the city of Cardiff. It covers an area of approximately 8 hectares (19.8 acres). The area was officially opened as a wildlife reserve on 25 July 2002 in what was previously an area of Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) up until the opening of the Cardiff Bay Barrage in April 2001. The area had previously been salt marsh, but the Barrage created 200 hectares of freshwater lake, and from this the reserve was developed.
The Stolen Earth
"The Stolen Earth" is the twelfth episode of the fourth series and the 750th overall episode of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The episode was written by show runner and head writer Russell T Davies and is the first of a two-part crossover story with spin-offs The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood; the concluding episode is "Journey's End", the finale of the fourth series. It was first broadcast on BBC One on 28 June 2008.
Cardiff Docks
Cardiff Docks is a port in south Cardiff, Wales. At its peak, the port was one of the largest dock systems in the world with a total quayage of almost 11 km . Once the main port for the export of South Wales coal, the Port of Cardiff remains active in the import and export of containers, steel, forest products and dry and liquid bulks.
Craft in the Bay
The Craft in the Bay Gallery is an exhibition and craft retail area located at the south end of Lloyd George Avenue, Cardiff Bay. It is operated by a charitable arts organisation, The Makers Guild in Wales. The gallery is opposite the Wales Millennium Centre and close to the Welsh Assembly Building. The building consists of the award winning refurbished “D” Shed, a grade II listed maritime warehouse together with a modern extension.
Roath Lock
Roath Lock is a television production facility in the Porth Teigr area of Cardiff Bay. The studios house BBC drama productions including Doctor Who, Casualty and Pobol y Cwm. The centre topped out on 20 February 2011 and filming for such productions commenced in autumn of the same year. The facility is located on a development site known as Porth Teigr, which includes a proposed 40,000sq ft digital media centre and an interactive exhibition titled Doctor Who Experience.
Third Floor Gallery
Third Floor Gallery is an independent charitable photography gallery in Cardiff Bay, Wales. It opened in 2010 and predominantly features documentary photography. The gallery is run by photographers Maciej Dakowicz, Joni Karanka and Bartosz Nowicki. The gallery is self-run and self-financed. Volunteers help staff it.
