RAF Kirknewton
RAF Kirknewton is a Royal Air Force station at Whitemoss, a mile south east of Kirknewton, West Lothian, Scotland. Primarily an RAF radar base, RAF Kirknewton was home to a variety of units during the war. No. 289 Squadron RAF was formed there as an anti-aircraft co-operation unit on 20 November 1941. In June 1943, RAF Kirknewton was the site of an outstanding act of bravery when Sqn Ldr Peter Guy Ottewill rescued two airmen from a burning Bristol Beaufighter, earning a George Medal.

Kirknewton is a village in West Lothian, Scotland. Its population is about 2200 (in 2011). It lies south of the A71 from Edinburgh to Livingston, and north of the A70, the high-level road that runs along the north side of the Pentland Hills from Edinburgh to Carnwath and Lanark. Much of the village stands back from the B7031, which links the two main "A" roads.

Edinburgh International Climbing Arena is an adventure sports facility located in Ratho, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. When it opened, it was the largest indoor climbing arena in the world. The centre opened in 2003, but in 2005 the company running it went into receivership, and the centre was temporarily closed. In 2007 the centre reopened under a new owner, Edinburgh Leisure, a not-for-profit company part-funded by City of Edinburgh Council.

Ritchie Camp served RAF Kirknewton, a Royal Air Force station at Whitemoss, a mile south east of Kirknewton, West Lothian, Scotland during World War II. Primarily an RAF radar base, RAF Kirknewton was home to a variety of units during the war RAF Kirknewton was used as a temporary POW Camp for German officers during WWII, while they were awaiting transfer to the USA, and it is likely that the camp may have housed these prisoners, together with their guards.
Bonnington House
Bonnington House is a 19th-century country house near Wilkieston, around 7 kilometres west of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a category A listed building. The house was built in 1622, and was the home of the Foulis Baronets of Colinton. Sir James Foulis, 2nd Baronet, served as Lord Justice Clerk from 1684 to 1688, taking the title Lord Colinton. Bonnington later passed to the Wilkies of Ormiston.
