Pier Arts Centre

The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness, Orkney, was opened to the public in 1979 to house a collection of British art donated to ‘be held in trust for Orkney’ by the author, peace activist and philanthropist Margaret Gardiner. Loch of Stenness

The Loch of Stenness together with the Loch of Harray are the two largest freshwater lochs of Mainland, Orkney. In Old Norse their names are Steinnesvatn and Heraðvatn. They are named for the nearby parishes of Harray and Stenness.
