Stockbridge is an area of Edinburgh, located towards the north of the city, bounded by the New Town and by Comely Bank. The name is Scots stock brig from Anglic stocc brycg, meaning a timber bridge. Silvermills
Silvermills, once an ancient village, has been part of Edinburgh since 1809. St Stephen's Church, Edinburgh
Saint Stephen's Church is located in the New Town of Edinburgh, Scotland, at the bottom of Saint Vincent Street. It was built in 1827-1828, to a design by architect William Henry Playfair (1789–1857). The first minister of the church was Dr William Muir, who opened an evening school in the large vaulted cellars of the church for the education of the illiterate. The interior was altered in 1956, the congregation having declined.

The Lodge of Edinburgh (Mary's Chapel) No.1 is a Masonic Lodge in Edinburgh, Scotland under the auspices of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. It is number 1 on the Roll, and as it possesses the oldest minute of any masonic lodge in existence (July 1599) and the first historical reference of a non-operative or speculative freemason being initiated as a member (1634), it is reputed to be the oldest Masonic Lodge not only in Scotland, but the world.
