Murrayfield
Murrayfield is an affluent area in the west of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is to the east of Corstorphine and west of Roseburn and the city centre. The A8 road runs east-west through the north of the area. Murrayfield is often considered to include the smaller neighbouring areas of Ravelston (to the north) and Roseburn (to the east). It is known mostly for containing Murrayfield Stadium, home to the Scottish national rugby union team and venue for many sporting events.

Murrayfield Stadium (usually just known as Murrayfield) is a sports stadium located in the west end of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Its all-seater capacity was recently reduced from 67,800 to 67,144 to incorporate the largest permanent "big screens" in the country, though it remains the largest stadium in Scotland and one of the largest in the United Kingdom overall.
St George's School, Edinburgh
St George's School is an all-girls independent school situated in Ravelston, Edinburgh, Scotland. Until Session 2012/2013 the School's curriculum was based on the Scottish education system but incorporating aspects of the English education system. For example, GCSE Art was preferred and some A-Levels were available in sixth form. However, as of 2012/2013, St. George's offered GCSEs for girls going into Lower 5 (Scottish S4, or fourth year).
Blackhall, Edinburgh
Blackhall is a suburb in the north west of the Scottish capital city Edinburgh. Blackhall according to Stuart Harris in "The Place Names Of Edinburgh" states that the "Black" could derive either from the Anglican blaec or Scots blac meaning simply black, and the "Hall" ending is the Anglican "Halh" or Scots "Haugh" meaning land beside or in the bend of a river. There is also evidence that the street "March road" is derived from "Marsh Road" as the area was bog and wetland hundreds of years ago.
The Mary Erskine School
The Mary Erskine School, popularly known as "Mary Erskine's", paired with the all-boys school Stewart's Melville College is an all-girls independent secondary school in Edinburgh, Scotland. It has a roll of around 700 pupils. The school was founded as a hospital school in 1694 as the Merchant Maiden Hospital by Mary Erskine and the Company of Merchants of the City of Edinburgh. In 1870, it was refounded as a day school and renamed as the Edinburgh Educational Institution For Girls.
Murrayfield Ice Rink
Murrayfield Ice Rink is a 3,800-seat multi-purpose arena in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh, Scotland, right next door to Murrayfield Stadium. It was built between 1938 and 1939. It is home to the Edinburgh Capitals ice hockey team. A 7-sheet curling rink was constructed in the 1970s following the closure of the Haymarket Ice Rink.
Drylaw
Drylaw is a suburb in the north west of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland between Blackhall and Granton. Formerly the estate of Drylaw House, built in 1718, the home of the Loch family, the area became the site of a major housing scheme in the 1950s designed to rehouse the occupants in Leith. It is on the A902 road Its name comes from the Lowland Scots for a "hill without a spring".
Ravelston
Ravelston is an affluent area of Edinburgh, Scotland, to the west of the city centre, the east of Corstorphine and Clermiston, the north of Murrayfield and Roseburn and to the south of Queensferry Road. Ravelston is often considered to be part of the larger neighbouring area of Murrayfield. The area is primarily made up of fairly large detached and semi-detached family homes, as well as modern apartments and many bungalows.
Roseburn
Roseburn is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. The area lies in the west of the city, beyond Haymarket and close to the Murrayfield area. It is immediately to the south of the A8 road. The Water of Leith flows along one side of Roseburn Park next to the Water of Leith Walkway. Other boundaries to the park are Murrayfield Stadium and Murrayfield Ice Rink. The park is used for football in the winter and cricket in the summer.
Ravelston Garden
Ravelston Garden is a 1930s Art Deco development of residential buildings in the suburb of Ravelston in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It was designed by Andrew Neil and Robert Hurd, 1935-36, and consists of three white-harled International Style blocks of 4-storey flats. They were originally known as the Jenners flats, who were the managing agents. Ravelston Garden is a category A listed building, designated by Historic Scotland for "national or international importance".
Murrayfield Stadium tram stop
Murrayfield Stadium tram stop is a new tram stop currently under construction by Edinburgh Trams. It will provide direct access to Murrayfield Stadium and Murrayfield Ice Rink. The stop (and the entire tram line) are expected to open in mid 2014.
