Silver Glen

The Silver Glen lies approximately 1 km to the east of the town of Alva, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, and takes its name from the silver that was mined there in the early 18th century. The story of the silver mine is a remarkable one. The deposit, the richest deposit of native silver ever found in the British Isles, was discovered just as the Jacobite rising of 1715 was breaking out, and its owner, Sir John Erskine, left to join the rebels, leaving his wife in charge of the mine.

Upper Hirst

The Upper Hirst is a coal seam in central Scotland that was mined in the 1950s through to 2002, mainly to supply Kincardine Power Station, and later, Longannet Power Station, in Fife. This was a low-quality coal, unsuitable for most other purposes, and had mostly been disregarded previously. Its low sulfur content made it very suitable for power station use.

Coalsnaughton or Calibar is a village in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is just south of Tillicoultry. a small town which is based upon a slope facing down towards Tillicoultry which creates a valley between Coalsnaughton and the Ochil Hills. There are great sights from Coalsnaughton. The war memorial is by the Scots sculptor George Henry Paulin. It also has 2 shops one of which includes a post office.

Fishcross

Fishcross,also known as Kipper's Junction, is a small village in Clackmannanshire in central Scotland, situated to the north of Sauchie at a crossroads just south of Tillicoultry. Formerly a mining village, the population is 484 as at 2003. A golf course and equestrian centre are located nearby and at Auchinbaird there is a fine example of a windmill built in the early 18th Century to drain a coal pit and later converted to serve as a dovecote.

Alloa Academy

Alloa Academy is a six-year state-funded comprehensive school, serving the town of Alloa in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Its roll is over 800 pupils. It has four primary schools associated with it: Claremont, Sunnyside, Park and St John's. It also welcomes pupils from St Mungo's Primary. The school currently has 74 teaching staff. The pupil intake varies from a very middle class area to an area of severe deprivation. The school moved location after Christmas 2008.

Sauchie Tower, also known as Devon Tower, is a 15th-century tower house in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. The tower is located by the village of Fishcross, 1 kilometre north of Sauchie and 2.5 kilometres north of Alloa, close to the River Devon. It is protected as a Category A listed building, and as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

St. Mungo's Parish Church

The church is named after St. Mungo (also known as St. Kentigern), patron saint and founder of the city of Glasgow. It belongs to the Church of Scotland Presbytery of Stirling and serves the parish of Alloa. A chapel dedicated to St. Mungo is thought to have been erected during the fourteenth or fifteenth-century, which became dependent upon the Parish of Tullibody. Alloa had grown into a parish in its own right by 1600 when the Act of Assembly united the two parishes.
