Belmont is an area within the south of the town of Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland, UK. It was developed for local authority housing before the outbreak of World War Two in 1939, around Belmont Avenue, Chalmers Avenue, Morton Road area. In the late 1950s, work commenced on a much larger council housing development at South Belmont, in an area enclosed by Peggieshill Road, Fenwickland Avenue, Burnbank Road and Dalmellington Road.

It was opened ahead of schedule in March 2005, with the opening of the first Debenhams store in Ayrshire. The shopping centre has an underground car parking facility with space for 500 cars with stairs up to the main level.

Ayr Academy is a non-denominational secondary school situated in the centre of Ayr in South Ayrshire. It is a comprehensive school for children from the ages of 11 to 18 from Ayr. Ayr Academy's catchment area covers Newton-on-Ayr, Whitletts and the outlying villages of Coylton, Annbank, and Mossblown. In 2007 the closure of Mainholm Academy resulted in the addition of approx 100 extra pupils attending Ayr Academy. At present, approximately 800 + pupils attend the school.
Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway (Latin Dioecesis Candidae Casae o Gallovidianus) is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland. The diocese of Galloway had broken allegiance with Rome in 1560, and disappeared in 1689. It was resurrected by the Roman Catholic Church on March 4, 1878, and is now based in the town of Ayr. The present bishop of the diocese is the Right Reverend John Cunningham.
Gaiety Theatre, Ayr
Built in 1902, the Gaiety Theatre is a category B listed performing arts venue in Ayr, Scotland. In 1935 it was remodelled with a distinctive Art Deco facade. It is noted for its interior rococo features, its atmosphere and its acoustics. In 1955 it was rebuild following a fire which significantly damaged the building.

The school was founded in 1836 as a school for girls, today the co-educational school provides both primary and secondary education between its Junior and Senior Schools for around 580 pupils between the ages of three and eighteen years. Ayr Ice Rink (Beresford Terrace)
Ayr Ice Rink was an ice arena in Ayr, Scotland that opened in 1939 and was used for ice skating, ice hockey and curling. The rink was notable as being the home of professional ice hockey clubs Ayr Raiders and Ayr Bruins. The building was located at 21 Beresford Terrace on the former site of Beresford Park, home of Ayr Parkhouse Football Club. Ayr Ice Rink Ltd purchased the land from London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1938 to build the rink.
