Loch of Strathbeg

The Loch of Strathbeg (also known as Loch Strathbeg; historically "Strathbeg Water"; "Water of Strathbeg"; "Rattray Water" or "Water of Rattray") is a designated Special Protection Area for wildlife conservation purposes. It is located near to Rattray and Crimond in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The loch is maintained by the RSPB and around the loch there are three hides from which visitors may watch the birds and other wildlife.

Cairness House

Cairness House, 4 miles south of Fraserburgh in the County of Aberdeenshire, is the largest and finest country house in Buchan and one of the great houses of Scotland. It was built between 1791 and 1797 to designs by architect James Playfair and replaced an earlier house of 1781 by Robert Burn, which was in part incorporated into the Playfair scheme. Sir John Soane assisted in the final stages of the construction following Playfair’s death in 1794.

Crimonmogate

Crimonmogate is an estate near Crimond, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is most famous for the 19th-century Crimonmogate House, designed by the Aberdeen architect Archibald Simpson for the merchant Patrick Milne. The Greek Revival building is protected as a category A listed building, and the grounds are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.

Crimond Church is a Christian, Church of Scotland Presbyterian church, located on the east side of the A90 road in the center of the village of Crimond, Aberdeenshire, Scotland at location NK0556 The church clock, bearing the inscription "The hour's coming", has an extra minute between the eleven and twelve making for 61 minutes in the hour.

Crimond Raceway

Crimond Raceway is the most northerly stock car track in the United Kingdom. It is located about a mile from the village of Crimond in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is here that former Formula One world champion driver Jim Clark began his career. The stock cars began in the 1950s with the original tracks on the runways on the nearby Crimond Aerodrome.

Lonmay Castle

The remains of the Castle of Lonmay are found near Netherton of Lonmay, to the north of Loch Strathbeg in Buchan, Scotland. The remains are not located in the modern village of Lonmay which is approximately 6km to the south west. It was one of the Nine Castles of Knuckle and "may have been a motte". It has long ceased to be in existence and there are very few remains to be found, all of which are buried under constantly shifting sand dunes that have over time engulfed the site.

HMS Merganser

HMS Merganser (aka. "Crimond Airfield", "Crimond Aerodrome" or "Rattray Aerodrome"), was a Royal Naval Air Station near Crimond, Aberdeenshire. The station opened on 3 October 1944 during The Second World War and served as a training establishment for Telegraphist Air Gunners and Torpedo Bombing Reconnaissance crews. The base was closed in 1946, being moved into a state of care & maintenance.
