East Hampshire
East Hampshire is a local government district in Hampshire, England. Its council is based in Petersfield. Other towns are Alton, Horndean and Whitehill-Bordon. The district was originally to be known as the District Council of Petersfield. It comprised 42 seats and first met on 18 June 1973. For ten months it operated alongside the councils that it was formed to replace: the Alton and Petersfield urban districts along with Alton Rural District and Petersfield Rural District.
Uppark
Uppark is a 17th-century house in South Harting, Petersfield, West Sussex, England and a National Trust property. The house, set high on the South Downs, was built for Ford Grey (1655—1701), the first Earl of Tankerville, c. 1690 and was sold in 1747 to Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh and his wife Sarah.
Dureford Abbey
Dureford Abbey, in Sussex, England, was a Premonstratensian monastery. It was founded by Henry Hussey who in 1161 granted land to the abbot of Welbeck Abbey, to establish the new community near Rogate, Sussex.
Rogate railway station
Rogate railway station, also known variously as Rogate for Harting, and Rogate and Harting, supposedly served these two villages in the county of West Sussex in England. However the station was a mile and a half away from both of these places, and was in fact in the village of Nyewood. The station was on the former London and South Western Railway line between Petersfield and Midhurst. The line opened on 1 September 1864.
Devil's Jumps, Treyford
The Devil's Jumps are a group of five large bell barrows situated on the South Downs 1.2 kilometres south-east of Treyford in the county of West Sussex in southern England. The Devil's Jumps site is listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument and as a Local Nature Reserve. Most barrows along the South Downs have been damaged by agriculture and treasure hunters but the Devil's Jumps are considered to be the best preserved Bronze Age barrow group in Sussex.
