Clare Castle Country Park

Clare Castle Country Park in Suffolk, England, was created around the ruins of Clare Castle and incorporates the now defunct Clare railway station on the Colchester to Cambridge branch of the Great Eastern Railway. There are several walks through the park and along the river Stour, as well as a nature trail, and the park lies on the Stour Valley Path and forms the end of the Bury to Clare walk. There is also a visitors centre in the former station with pictures of the site in former years.

Clare Priory

Clare Priory is a modern English house of the Augustinian order, established 1248 near Clare Castle on the banks of the River Stour in Suffolk. It was one of the first English monastic houses suppressed in 1538 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, but the Irish Augustinian Friars purchased the house in 1953, with the help of the family who then owned it, and by doing this returned to their origins in England.

Risbridge Hundred forms the south western corner of Suffolk extending 15 miles from north to south and between 4 and 9 miles in breadth. It is bounded on the west by Cambridgeshire on the south by Essex, on the east by Babergh and Thingoe Hundreds and on the north by Lackford Hundred. It is in the Franchise or Liberty of St Edmund, in the Archdeaconry of Sudbury, Deanery of Clare and Diocese of Ely.

Chipley Priory

Chipley Priory was a small Augustine religious house, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, located about 1 mile north-west of the village of Poslingford in the English county of Suffolk. The date of its foundation is unknown and the first references to it occur in 1235. The priory never became a major house – a taxation roll from 1291 shows its income at less than £5 per annum – and by 1455 the buildings were ruins.

Ancient House, Clare

The Ancient House is a medieval timber-framed building located in Clare in Suffolk. It is a Grade I listed building. The oldest part of the building is the west wing, dating from the 14th century, whilst the heavily decorated east wing is believed to have been built in 1473. The house features a moulded timber ceiling in one of the ground floor rooms and some elaborately carved oriel windows. It is mentioned in a will dating to 1502.
