Hixon, Staffordshire

Hixon is a village in the borough of Stafford, Staffordshire, England. It is about 8 km east of Stafford at grid reference SK003259. Hixon was served by a railway station which was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway on 1 May 1849. Hixon was formerly home to a Royal Air Force bomber base, RAF Hixon, which is now closed. In 1968 eleven people were killed in the Hixon rail crash just outside the village.

Amerton Railway

The Amerton Railway is a 24 narrow gauge heritage railway in the English county of Staffordshire. It is owned by the Staffordshire Narrow Gauge Railway Society. Construction of the railway was begun in 1990 in a field at the side of Amerton Working Farm. The first trains ran in 1992, but it was around 10 years later when the railway was completed as a full circle with two passing loops.

Ingestre Hall

Ingestre Hall is a 17th century Jacobean mansion situated at Ingestre, near Stafford, Staffordshire, England, which is now in use as a Residential Arts and Conference Centre. It is a Grade II* listed building. Ingestre is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The manor was owned by the Mutton family in ancient times but was acquired by the Chetwynd family (whose later descendants became Barons Talbot) as a result of the marriage in the 13th century of the Ingestre heiress to Sir John Chetwynd.

Ingestre railway station

Ingestre and Weston railway station was a former British railway station to serve the village of Ingestre in Staffordshire. It was opened by the Stafford and Uttoxeter Railway in 1867. Originally called Ingestre it was actually much closer to Weston and was renamed (also Ingestre for Weston) in 1870 to avoid confusion with Weston and Ingestre on the North Staffordshire Railway.

Ingestre

Ingestre is a village and former civil parish in Staffordshire, England. It is four miles to the north-east of the county town of Stafford. Ingestre Hall is a local landmark. It was formerly served by both Weston and Ingestre railway station and Ingestre railway station. The village, and former civil parish, of Tixall is nearby. The civil parishes of Tixall and Ingestre were merged into a single parish of Ingestre with Tixall in 1979.
