Yate is a town in South Gloucestershire, England, at the southwest extremity of the Cotswold Hills, 12 miles (19 km) northeast of the city of Bristol. At the 2001 census the population was 21,789. The town of Chipping Sodbury (population 5,066) is contiguous with Yate to the east. Yate developed from a village into a new town in the 1960s, partly as an overspill or commuter town for the city of Bristol.

Codrington, South Gloucestershire
Codrington is a settlement in South Gloucestershire, England. It is located near Junction 18 of the M4 motorway south of Wapley and Yate. Codrington is a hamlet situated alongside the B4465 road. It is in the Parish of Wapley-cum-Codrington in the hundred of Grumbald's Ash. It had one pub the Wishing Well, which was formerly the Codrington Arms that was linked to the Codrington Family who used to be based at Codrington Court before moving to nearby Dodington Park.
Dodington Park
Dodington Park is a country house and estate in Dodington, Gloucestershire, England. The Codrington family acquired the estate in the late 16th century, when there was a large gables Elizabethan house and adjoining church. In the 18th century the family became wealthy from sugar plantations in the West Indies and undertook work on the estate. The grounds of 240 ha were laid out around 1764 by Capability Brown and were modified in 1793 by William Emes and John Webb.
Chipping Sodbury Tunnel
Chipping Sodbury Tunnel sits on the South Wales Main Line. It was constructed around 1900 for the South Wales and Bristol Direct Railway and runs some 2+⁄2 miles west of Badminton railway station and Chipping Sodbury Yard. The tunnel is constructed with an arch brick lining and measures some 27'6" across and 20'9" high. It slopes at a 1:300 gradient from Badminton falling in a westerly direction towards Chipping Sodbury.

Westerleigh Junction is a railway junction in Gloucestershire, England, where the Cross Country Route (XCR) from York to Bristol meets the South Wales Main Line (SWML) from London to Swansea, near the village of Westerleigh. The junction is located between the stations of Bristol Parkway, Swindon and Yate.
