Birley Spa
Birley Spa is a community bath hall and a Victorian bathhouse in the Hackenthorpe district of the City of Sheffield, England. It was built for Charles Herbert Pierrepont, 2nd Earl Manvers and the Lord of the Manor of Beighton in 1842, and initially was a hotel with spa baths beneath. Subsequently it was used for many years as private dwellings. In the 1973 it was given Grade II listed building status. The building was restored in 2000/2001 and now opens for tours of the bathhouse and grounds.

Woodhouse ward—which includes the district of Woodhouse and most of Handsworth—is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the southeastern part of the city and covers an area of 7 km. The population of this ward in 2001 was 17,900 people in 7,800 households. It is one of the wards that make up the Sheffield South East constituency.
Orgreave Train Collision 1926
The Orgreave Train Collision occurred on 13 December 1926 near Orgreaves Colliery signal box on the Great Central Railway line about 4+⁄2 miles east of Sheffield. A goods train had collided with a preceding goods train on the same line, and the wreckage had obstructed the adjacent passenger line. A workman's train, known as a paddy mail, ran into the wreckage; paddy mails were workmans' trains operated in connection with all three shift changes at the collieries.
Birley Collieries
The Birley Collieries were a group of coal mines set in the Shire Brook Valley in south east Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. They were connected to the railway system by a branch line from the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway at Woodhouse East Junction, about 800 yards east of Woodhouse station.
Rother Vale Collieries
Rother Vale Collieries were a group of coal producing pits originally in the Rother Valley parishes of Treeton, Woodhouse and Orgreave, nowadays on the south east Sheffield / Rotherham boundary, in South Yorkshire, England. In the early 20th century a new colliery at Thurcroft was developed. The Fence Colliery Company was formed in 1862 with the purchase of Fence Colliery, a small coal pit sunk alongside the main Sheffield to Worksop road at the lower end of the village of Fence.
Orgreave, South Yorkshire
Orgreave is a village and civil parish in South Yorkshire, England. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 761. Orgreave forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham; until 1974, it was part of the Rotherham Rural District, the town of Rotherham being 6 miles to the north.
Rotherwood exchange sidings
Rotherwood exchange sidings were set at the eastern extremity of the Manchester-Sheffield-Wath electric railway between Orgreave Lane and Retford Road, on the south eastern boundary of the City of Sheffield with the Parish of Orgreave, within Rotherham. The sidings consisted of two sets of lines, on the up (towards Grimsby) and down (towards Sheffield) which were laid out for the purpose of locomotive changing on trains passing through the area.

Shire Brook Valley Local Nature Reserve
The Shire Brook Valley Local Nature Reserve is a nature reserve located in Sheffield, England. The reserve was established in 1999 and extends over an area of approximately 100 hectares. The reserve is based around the former site of the Coisley Hill Sewage Works which closed in the early 1990s. The managers office has been converted into a visitors centre.
