Low Dinsdale
Low Dinsdale is a village and civil parish in the borough of Darlington and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is situated a few miles to the south-east of Darlington. Historically the village was commonly known as Dinsdale. "Low" was added to distinguish the village from the neighbouring village of Over Dinsdale, on the opposite bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire. The toponym was recorded in Domesday Book as Dignesale and Dirneshale, and recorded in 1088 as Detnisale.
Middleton One Row
Middleton One Row is a village in the borough of Darlington and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is situated to the east of Darlington, just north of the River Tees. The village originally consisted of a single row of houses on the north side of the village green, giving the village its name. Medieval villages commonly feature houses on facing sides of the village green but in Middleton One Row the south side of the green drops quickly to the River Tees.

Great Smeaton
Great Smeaton is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. It lies on elevated ground near the River Wiske, which is a tributary of the River Swale. The name Great Smeaton is thought to derive from the Anglo-Saxon word Smideton meaning the smiths farm. The A167 (Darlington Road) passes through the village, which is about halfway between Darlington and Northallerton. It once stood on the route of the Great North Road between London and Edinburgh.
River Skerne
The River Skerne is a tributary of the River Tees it flows through County Durham in England. The Skerne is about 25 miles long, the Skerne begins in magnesian limestone hills between Trimdon and Trimdon Grange and ends at Hurworth Place where it joins the River Tees. Three miles after the source the Skerne is joined by Hurworth Burn and enters Hurworth Burn Reservoir on the borders of Stockton-on-Tees and County Durham. On leaving the reservoir, the Skerne heads south-west towards Sedgefield.
