Barrow upon Soar
Barrow upon Soar is a large village in northern Leicestershire, in the Soar Valley between Leicester and Loughborough. It has a population of around 5,000 and is part of the Charnwood local government district. It lies on the east bank of the River Soar at its confluence with the Fishpool Brook, and is just opposite the A6 from Quorn. The village is on the Midland Main Line, and Ivanhoe Line trains stop at the Barrow-upon-Soar railway station.
Barrow upon Soar Rural District
The rural district of Barrow upon Soar in Leicestershire, England, existed from 1894 to 1974. It was established under the Local Government Act 1894 as a successor to the Barrow Rural Sanitary District, and therefore was also based on the Barrow Poor Law Union. It covered Barrow upon Soar and the surrounding area. It was increased by the disbanding of Loughborough Rural District in 1936, and also by the abolition of Quorndon urban district around then.
Swithland Reservoir
Swithland Reservoir is a reservoir in the English county of Leicestershire. It is north-east of the village of Swithland from which it takes its name, north-west of Rothley and approximately 133 metres south-west of Mountsorrel Quarry. The dam is at the north end and is crossed by Kinchley Lane. An island known as Brazil Island is located south of the centre of the reservoir, with a weir on either side.
