Soar Valley
The Soar Valley in Leicestershire, England is the basin of the River Soar, which rises south of Leicester and flows north through Charnwood before meeting the River Trent at Trent Lock on the Nottinghamshire border. Soar Valley embraces the large villages of Quorn, Mountsorrel, Barrow upon Soar, Birstall, Rothley and Sileby and a number of smaller communities all on or near the River Soar as it flows from Leicester to Loughborough in Leicestershire.

Barrow-upon-Soar railway station serves the large village of Barrow-upon-Soar in Leicestershire, England. The station is located on the Midland Main Line between Leicester and Loughborough. The first station at Barrow was opened in 1840 by the Midland Counties Railway, which shortly joined the North Midland Railway and the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway to form the Midland Railway. It was originally known simply as Barrow, but became Barrow-upon-Soar in 1871.
Barrow upon Soar
Barrow upon Soar is a large village in northern Leicestershire, in the Soar Valley between Leicester and Loughborough. It has a population of around 5,000 and is part of the Charnwood local government district. It lies on the east bank of the River Soar at its confluence with the Fishpool Brook, and is just opposite the A6 from Quorn. The village is on the Midland Main Line, and Ivanhoe Line trains stop at the Barrow-upon-Soar railway station.

Walton on the Wolds is a village and civil parish in the Charnwood district of Leicestershire, England. It has a population of around 250. It is near to Burton on the Wolds and Barrow upon Soar. It was the location of one series of Boon, starring Neil Morrissey. The series used the Tudor house, Kings Cote, as Boon's house.
Barrow upon Soar Rural District
The rural district of Barrow upon Soar in Leicestershire, England, existed from 1894 to 1974. It was established under the Local Government Act 1894 as a successor to the Barrow Rural Sanitary District, and therefore was also based on the Barrow Poor Law Union. It covered Barrow upon Soar and the surrounding area. It was increased by the disbanding of Loughborough Rural District in 1936, and also by the abolition of Quorndon urban district around then.
St Bartholomew's Church, Quorn
St Bartholomew's Church, Quorn is the Church of England parish church for Quorn, Leicestershire. It is a grade I listed, dating from 12th century-14th century with a later 1848 addition. The churchyard contains war graves of two army personnel of World War I and three of World War II.

The Barrow Upon Soar train crash occurred on February 1, 2008 some 300 yards north west of Barrow-upon-Soar railway station in the suburbs of Loughborough. A train collided with a bridge which had been accidentally demolished by a lorry.

Quorn Hall is a grade II listed country house in the village of Quorn, Leicestershire. It is a three storey brick built house originally constructed circa 1680 but later much modified. It is situated on the east side of the village of Quorn in 12 acres of land through which runs the River Soar.
