South Darenth is a village in the civil parish of Horton Kirby and South Darenth in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. The village is located on the right bank of the Darent, south of Dartford. The nearest railway station is at Farningham Road, with train services west-bound to Bromley and London Victoria and east to Gillingham and Faversham. The A225 road passes to the west of the village, connecting it to nearby Dartford.
Darenth Park Hospital
Darenth Park Hospital was founded by the Metropolitan Asylums Board in Darenth near Dartford in Kent as "Darenth School" for 500 children with learning disabilities on 18 November 1878. By 1890 it housed over 1,000 children and adults. In 1911 it became the "Darenth Industrial Trading Colony", and was becoming almost self-sufficient in food production and the manufacture of everyday items through the ample supply of free labour.

Church of St Margaret of Antioch, Darenth
The Church of St Margaret of Antioch at Darenth, Kent is a church with Norman origins thought to be the third oldest in Kent and the sixth oldest in the United Kingdom. It is a Grade I listed building. The chancel and nave are late 10th century or early 11th century. The sanctuary is early 12th century. The church was restored twice in the 19th century, first by William Burges in 1866-68 and then by Ewan Christian in 1888.
