Watford
Watford Listen/ˈwɒtfəd/ is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England, situated 17 miles northwest of central London and within the bounds of the M25 motorway. It contains Cassiobury Park, a public park that was once the manor estate of the Earls of Essex, and Watford Football Club, a professional team who play in the Football League Championship – the second highest level of English football.

In the early evening of Thursday 8 August 1996, a Class 321 passenger train operated by North London Railways Ltd travelling from London Euston on the West Coast Main Line Down Slow line at around 110 km/h (68 mph) passed a signal at danger. Having applied the brakes it eventually stopped 203 m (222 yards) past the signal and was traversing the junction between the Down Slow line and the Up Fast line.

The Harlequin Centre, in the centre of Watford, is the biggest shopping centre in Hertfordshire, in the United Kingdom, and is visited by over 17 million customers each year. It was built as a rival to Brent Cross and opened in 1992. The centre contains a number of retailers, including John Lewis, bhs, Marks & Spencer, Zara, and Next. The centre is due to be rebranded as "intu Watford" in 2013 following the renaming of parent Capital Shopping Centres Group plc as "intu properties plc".
St John's Church, Watford
The parish church of St John the Apostle and Evangelist, Sutton Road, Watford lies close to the centre of this busy market town in Hertfordshire. It is a member of the Church of England, within the Diocese of St Albans. Throughout its history has been one of the leading anglo-catholic churches in the south east of England. Today it is part of the Richborough Episcopal Area, and lies in the pastoral and sacramental care of the Provincial Episcopal Visitor.
