RAF Bentley Priory

RAF Bentley Priory was a non-flying Royal Air Force station near Stanmore in the London Borough of Harrow. It was famous as the headquarters of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain and the Second World War. The RAF Bentley Priory site includes a Grade II* listed Officers' Mess and Italian Gardens. Bhaktivedanta Manor

Grim's Ditch (Harrow)

Grim's Ditch or Grim's Dyke or Grimes Dike is an earthwork in the London Borough of Harrow, close to the Hertfordshire borderline. It extends about three miles from Pinner Green to Harrow Weald Common. It takes its name from the pre-historic earthwork which is one of a number of Grim's Ditches in southern England. The highroad Old Redding passes through the centre of the trail which can be reached either by Oxhey Lane or Bushey Heath and includes a popular viewpoint for many locals.

Grim's Dyke

Grim's Dyke (sometimes called Graeme's Dyke until late 1891) is the name of a house and estate located in Harrow Weald, in Northwest London, England, built from 1870 to 1872 by Richard Norman Shaw, and named after the nearby pre-historic earthwork known as Grim's Ditch. The house is best known as the home of dramatist W.S. Gilbert, who lived there for the last two decades of his life. He died while attempting to save a girl from drowning in his lake.

Oxhey

Oxhey is a suburb of the borough of Watford in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It is located at grid reference TQ125955 and forms part of the Watford post town. Oxhey grew during the mid-19th century with the coming of the London and Birmingham Railway from London Euston to Boxmoor in 1837, the settlement being developed to house railway workers. The line was completed to Birmingham in 1838.

Aldenham Reservoir is situated in the the parish of Elstree and Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, England, about one mile (1.6 km) to the west of the village of Elstree. Originally, it was 65 acres in extent [now 55 acres after repairs to the dam] and was built by the Grand Union Canal Company to control the water levels in the River Colne following the construction of the Grand Union Canal. It was hand dug by French prisoners of war between 1795 and 1797.

Aldenham Country Park is a 175-acre parkland and woodland, including the 65-acre Hilfield Reservoir, created in 1971, and Aldenham Reservoir. It is now part of the Watling Chase Community Forest, located near Elstree, Hertfordshire, England. Aldenham Reservoir was excavated by French prisoner of war in 1795 to help maintain local river levels after the Grand Union Canal was built. Harrow Weald SSSI is a 3.7 hectare (9 acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Harrow Weald in the London Borough of Harrow. It was formerly part of the Stanmore and Harrow Weald Commons and Bentley Priory SSSI. It provides the most complete exposure of Pleistocene gravel beds above the Claygate Beds, the youngest layer of London Clay. They were formerly thought to have been of marine origin but recent research has cast doubt on this view.

It has been designated by the Mayor of London as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.
