Croydon Airport
Croydon Airport was an airport in South London straddling the boundary between what are now the London boroughs of Croydon and Sutton. It was the main airport for London before it was replaced by Northolt Aerodrome, London Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. The terminal building and entrance lodge are Grade II listed buildings.
A22 road
The A22 is one of the two-digit major roads in the south east of England. It carries traffic from London to Eastbourne on the East Sussex coast. For part of its route the A22 utilises the turnpikes opened in the 18th century: 1718: London to East Grinstead opened 1720: road extended through East Grinstead to Highgate Forest Row, the entrance to Ashdown Forest By 1820 the road ran for 34 miles (54 km) from Stones End Street, Borough, London to Wych Cross.

Croydon Rural District
Croydon was a rural district in north east Surrey, England, from 1894 to 1915. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 and replaced the Croydon Rural Sanitary District. The district surrounded the County Borough of Croydon to the south, east and west.

Brighton Road
Brighton Road is a major road running through Croydon and Purley, in south London, England. The northern part of its length is designated the A235, and further south it becomes the A23. The road is likely to follow the route of the Roman road through Croydon and is shown on the earliest maps of the town. In the 18th century it was designated a Turnpike, and there was a tollgate at the Selsdon Road junction.
A235 road
The A235 is a non-primary A road between Purley and Thornton Heath in the London Borough of Croydon. Before the construction of the Purley Way (Croydon bypass) in the 1920s, it was part of the A23 London to Brighton road. The northern (London Road) part of the road is used by many bus routes to reach Central London and Brixton: Mayday University Hospital is on the road as is the old Safari Cinema. Whitgift School is on the southern stretch.
Beaumont Primary School
Beaumont Primary School is a primary school in Purley, Surrey. There are just over 100 pupils, ranging from 4–11 years of age. A large percentage of the pupils are of ethnic minority, and speak English as an additional language. The six school years and a reception class occupy five classrooms. Beaumont's headteacher is Mrs Linda Harvey, who joined the school in 2001.
1936 KLM Croydon accident
The 1936 KLM Croydon accident was the crash of a KLM airliner on 9 December 1936, shortly after taking off from the Croydon Air Port (as it was known at the time) on a scheduled flight to Amsterdam, Netherlands. The aircraft was destroyed and 15 of the 17 passengers and crew on board died as a result of the accident.
1947 Croydon Dakota accident
The 1947 Croydon Dakota accident occurred on the 25 January 1947 when a Spencer Airways Douglas C-47A Skytrain (Dakota) failed to get airborne from Croydon Airport, located near London, and crashed into a parked and empty CSA Douglas C-47 destroying both aircraft and killing eleven passengers and one crew member.
1928 Imperial Airways Vickers Vulcan crash
The 1928 Imperial Airways Vickers Vulcan crash occurred on 13 July 1928 when a Vickers Vulcan on a test flight from Croydon Airport with a pilot and five passengers crashed near Purley, Surrey three miles from the airport, with the loss of four passengers. As a result of the crash Imperial Airways stopped the flying of staff (so called joy rides) on test flights.
1924 Imperial Airways de Havilland DH.34 crash
The 1924 Imperial Airways de Havilland DH.34 crash occurred on 24 December 1924 when de Havilland DH.34 G-EBBX of Imperial Airways crashed at Purley, Surrey, United Kingdom killing all eight people on board. The aircraft was operating a scheduled international flight from Croydon, Surrey, to Paris, France. It was the first fatal accident suffered by Imperial Airways and led to the first public inquiry into a civil aviation accident in the United Kingdom.
