River Quaggy

The River Quaggy (often the Quaggy River or simply Quaggy) is a river, 17 km in length, passing through the south-east London boroughs of Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham; in its lower reaches it is an urban river, in its upper reaches further from London it is more natural and known as the Kyd Brook. The river rises from two sources near Farnborough Hospital at Locksbottom and is a tributary of the River Ravensbourne which it flows into near Lewisham station in Lewisham.

Ranger's House

Ranger's House is a medium-sized red brick Georgian mansion in the Palladian style, adjacent to Greenwich Park in the south east of London. Fan Museum

The Fan Museum was the first museum dedicated to the fan. It is located in the Greenwich World Heritage Site in South East London, England. The Museum, which opened in 1991, is accommodated in two grade II* listed houses built in 1721. An orangery decorated with murals has been added to the building. There is also a Japanese-style garden with a fan-shaped parterre, a pond, and a stream. The Fan Museum owns over 4,000 fans, fan leaves and related ephemera.

Lewisham rail crash

The Lewisham rail crash occurred on the Lewisham by-pass line in London at about 6:20pm on 4 December 1957. In dense fog, an electric train to Hayes stopped at a signal under a bridge and the following steam train to Ramsgate crashed into it, the collision causing the bridge to collapse onto the steam train. There were 90 fatalities and 109 people were detained in hospital.

Stone House, Deptford

Stone House is one of the oldest and most distinctive buildings in the London Borough of Lewisham. It was built between 1771 and 1773 by George Gibson the younger, for himself. It is Grade II* Listed. The house has columns with capitals formed of leaves and florets, which are also used on St Mary's church in Lewisham, another of George Gibson's designs. The land on which the house stands, originally known as "halfpenny's field", was purchased by Gibson in 1766.

Lewisham rail crash (1857)

The Lewisham rail crash (1857) occurred just east of Lewisham railway station on 28 June 1857 and killed 11 people. The 14-carriage 21:15 from Strood, which was running 15 minutes late, pulled up 200 yards short of Lewisham station at a red signal. The guard took a red lamp to the rear of the train to warn the 21:30 train following. When he heard the approaching train he ran towards it blowing his whistle and waving the lamp.

Jack Cade's Cavern

Jack Cade's Cavern is a cavern, extending several hundred feet underground, in Blackheath, south-east London, England. It is located northwest of the Heath and southwest of Greenwich Park, beneath a spot called "The Point". It was re-discovered in about the year 1780. They are also referred to as the Blackheath Caverns. The entrance was at the end of a row of small cottages called "Cavern Cottages" at the rear of Trinity Church on Blackheath Hill,.
