Ideal Home Show
The Ideal Home Show (formerly called the Ideal Home Exhibition) is an annual event in London held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. The show was devised by the Daily Mail newspaper in 1908 and continued to be run by the Daily Mail up until 2009. It was then sold to events and publishing company Media 10, who will continue to run a scaled-down and shorter version of the show at Earls Court until the exhibition centre is demolished.
Metropolitan Borough of Kensington
The Metropolitan Borough of Kensington was a Metropolitan borough in the County of London from 1900 to 1965. It bordered Chelsea, Fulham, Hammersmith, Paddington, and Westminster It included Kensington, South Kensington, Earls Court, Notting Hill, Brompton and part of Kensal Green. In 1901 it was granted the status of a royal borough, and therefore from then was also known as the Royal Borough of Kensington.
Kensington High Street
Kensington High Street is the main shopping street in Kensington, Central London. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Kensington High Street is the continuation of Kensington Road and part of the A315. It starts by the entrance to Kensington Palace and runs westward through central Kensington. Near Kensington (Olympia) station, where the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea ends and Hammersmith begins, it ends and becomes Hammersmith Road.
Empress State Building
The Empress State Building is a skyscraper on the West Brompton/Earl's Court border in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It was built in 1961 and was 100 metres tall with 28 floors, designed by Stone, Toms & Partners. It was renovated in 2003 to a design by Wilkinson Eyre Architects. Three floors and 17.3 metres were added to its height. 'Orbit' is the name given to the private revolving bar on the top floor which offers panoramic views of London.
Kensington Roof Gardens
The Roof Gardens (formerly known as Derry and Toms Roof Gardens and Kensington Roof Gardens) is a roof garden covering 6,000 m² on top of the former Derry and Toms building on Kensington High Street, in central London, in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. They have for a long time been the largest roof garden in Europe, but was surpassed by the roof garden on the shopping mall Emporia in 2012. Facilities include a restaurant and club.

Commonwealth Institute
The Commonwealth Institute was an educational charity connected with the Commonwealth of Nations, and the name of a building in West London formerly owned by the Institute. The successor charity is now based at New Zealand House in central London. The building on Kensington High St will become the new home of the Design Museum in an £80m redevelopment opening in 2014.
Earls Court Exhibition Centre
Earls Court Exhibition Centre is an exhibition centre, conference and event venue in London, United Kingdom. It is located within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and is the largest such venue in central London. It is served by two London Underground stations, Earl's Court and West Brompton, opposite its entrances on Warwick Road and Old Brompton Road. Earls Court and the nearby Olympia are operated by EC&O Venues.
London Film Academy
The London Film Academy (LFA) is a UK film school situated in Fulham, London. Founded in 2001 as a non-profit making trust, the LFA provides practical courses on a variety of film-making skills. The school's joint principals are Anna MacDonald and Daisy Gili.
Lillie Bridge Grounds
The Lillie Bridge Grounds was a sports ground in London near to present day Stamford Bridge, opened around 1867. The ground started to fall into disuse after the opening of Stamford Bridge, and after a riot on 18 September 1887 which destroyed the track and grandstand, it finally closed in 1888. Lillie Bridge is these days better known as a London Underground (LUL) maintenance depot, and the Earls Court 2 annex of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre complex was built over the railway lines.
Old Brompton Road
Old Brompton Road is a major street in the South Kensington district of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. It starts from South Kensington tube station and runs south-west, through a mainly residential area, until it reaches West Brompton and the area around Earl's Court tube station. It runs through the SW5 and SW7 postcodes. There are several 5-star hotels and upmarket shops along the road.
Cromwell Hospital
The Bupa Cromwell Hospital is a private sector hospital located in the South Kensington area of London. The hospital was founded on 29 April 1981. The Cromwell Hospital has at various times been owned by the Bank of Credit & Commerce International and the Abu Dhabi royal family. The footballer George Best spent his final days in Cromwell Hospital, where he was repeatedly treated for his medical problems.
Linley Sambourne House
Linley Sambourne House is the former London home of the Victorian Punch cartoonist Edward Linley Sambourne. It is now open to the public as a museum known as 18 Stafford Terrace. From 1874, Sambourne and his family lived in a typical newly-built Kensington town house, at 18 Stafford Terrace in Holland Park. After his death in 1910 and that of his wife Marion in 1914 it was inherited by their son Roy who kept it largely unchanged (including furniture and decoration) until his own death in 1946.
Effie Bancroft
Marie Effie Wilton, Lady Bancroft (1839–1921) was an English actress and theatre manager. She appeared onstage as Marie Wilton until after her marriage in December 1867 to Squire Bancroft, when she usually appeared under the name Lady Bancroft. Bancroft and her husband were important in the developmant of Victorian era theatre through their presentation of innovative plays at the London theatres that they managed, first the Prince of Wales's Theatre and later the Haymarket Theatre.
Coleherne public house
The Coleherne public house was a gay pub in west London. Located at 261 Old Brompton Road, Earls Court, it was a popular landmark Leather bar during the 1970s and 1980s. The Coleherne pub (named after Coleherne Road) began life in 1866, at Old Brompton Road in the heart of the west London Bohemian Quarter. It had a long history of attracting a bohemian clientele before becoming known as a gay pub.
Collingham College
Collingham College is an independent, co-educational GCSE and sixth form college, which was founded as Collingham Tutors in 1975 by John Marsden and Nicholas Browne. Collingham is situated in London's Earls Court area. It is directly between Earl's Court and Gloucester Road stations, both served by the District and the Piccadilly lines. The Principal of Collingham is Sally Powell, BA PGCE MPhil Oxon and the Deputy Principal is James Allder BA.
Roberson Wine
Roberson Wine is a fine wine merchant based at 348 Kensington High Street in central London. Established in 1991, Roberson specialises in wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. Holding regular tastings of fine wine in its Kensington cellars, its trading division, based in Fulham, deals with on-trade sales, en primeur sales of fine wines and wine broking. Roberson Wine was named "London Wine Merchant of the Year" in 2008 and "Retailer of the Year" in 2009 for The Drinks Business Magazine.
The Troubadour, London
The Troubadour at 263-267 Old Brompton Road in Earls Court, established in 1954, is one of the last remaining coffee houses of its era in London, with a club room in the cellar famous as one of the primary venues of the British folk revival in the late 1950s and 1960s. The club was one of several London coffee house venues at which notable musicians played; other such venues included Les Cousins and Bunjies.
Little Holland House
For Frank Dickinson's house of the same name, see Little Holland House, Carshalton. Little Holland House was the dower house of Holland House in Kensington, England. It was at one point occuppied by Charles Richard Fox and his wife, Lady Mary Fox, daughter of King William IV. Henry Thoby Prinsep, a director of East India Company family, gained a 21-year lease on it from Henry Fox, 4th Baron Holland thanks to the painter George Frederic Watts, a friend of both the Hollands and the Prinseps.
Gwendwr Garden
Gwendwr Garden is a small park in West Kensington. In 1948 the area was donated to Fulham Council by the Gunter Estate for a memorial to the victims of German air raids in the area, particularly the Operation Steinbock raid on the night of 20 February 1944. The park contains a sunken area with a pond, lawns and a commemorative plaque.
Derry & Toms
Derry & Toms was a London department store. The company dates back to the 1860s, when Joseph Toms, a store proprietor joined forces with his brother-in-law, Charles Derry. In 1920 John Barker & Co acquired Derry & Toms. In 1932 the store moved to large seven story building on Kensington High Street, designed in an Art Deco style popular at the time by Bernard George and featuring metalwork by Walter Gilbert. The building is most famous for its Kensington Roof Gardens which still remains today.

Redcliffe Square is a town square located in the Kensington area of southwest central London, England. Redcliffe Square Gardens are located in the square. Redcliffe Gardens runs northwest–southeast through the square. To the east is The Boltons. To the southwest is Brompton Cemetery.
Pembroke Square, London

West Ashfield tube station
West Ashfield underground station is a mock-up London Underground District Line station situated on the third floor of Ashfield House in West Kensington, London. It is used for staff training purposes and was opened in 2010 at a cost of £800,000.
Cromwell Curve
The Cromwell Curve was a short section of railway line on the London Underground between Gloucester Road and High Street Kensington stations. The line was opened by the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR) on 5 July 1871. The tracks formed a triangle across the end of the ∨ connecting the District's existing routes from Earl's Court station to Gloucester Road and High Street Kensington, and ran in a cutting parallel to the Metropolitan Railway (MR).
