Whitminster
Whitminster is a village in Gloucestershire, on the A38 trunk road about six miles south of Gloucester. It was formerly known as Wheatenhurst, the name being changed officially in 1945. Wheatenhurst manor, with Whitminster House and the parish church of St Andrew, lies about a mile to the west of the modern village. It has one pub, 'The Old Forge', a village shop, a chip shop, a Chinese restaurant and takeaway, an Indian takeaway and a recently refurbished hotel, The Whitminster Inn.

Standish is a small village and civil parish in the Stroud local government district in Gloucestershire, England. The village is 5 kilometres north-west of Stroud, on the B4008 road to Quedgeley. The parish, which in the 2001 census had a population of 285, also contains the hamlet of Stroud Green, situated south-east of Standish village. Originally part of the estate of the Baron's Sherborne of Gloucestershire, they developed Standish Court as part of their holdings.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1923, when Gloucestershire played Lancashire in the grounds first first-class match. Gloucestershire played first-class matches at the ground from 1923 to 1992, playing a total of 155 first-class matches there, the last of which saw them play Somerset in the 1992 County Championship.
