Church of St. Dunstan, Mayfield

St Dunstan's, Mayfield in Mayfield, East Sussex was founded in 960 CE by St Dunstan, who was then Archbishop of Canterbury. It is reported as being originally a log church which lasted until it was replaced by a stone structure in the 12th century by the Normans. In 1389 this church was virtually destroyed by fire. Only the tower, the lancet window in the west wall and the base of the north aisle survive to this day.

En route it crosses the Kent and East Sussex border, a distance of 5 miles (8 km), along the former Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells Central Line / Cuckoo Line. The railway headquarters is at Tunbridge Wells West railway station.

Eridge railway station

Eridge railway station serves a rural district around Eridge in East Sussex. Mainline train services from the station are provided by Southern, and the station is on the Uckfield branch of the Oxted Line. Also heritage services connecting to Groombridge, High Rocks and Tunbridge Wells West are run by the Spa Valley Railway. There are good opportunities for walks from the station into the High Weald. The station has a small car park and there is a pub next to the station called the Huntsman.

Smuggling occurred here in the 17th and 18th centuries; and one of the turnpike roads (now the A267) came through here at that time.

Tunbridge Wells West railway station

Tunbridge Wells West is a railway station located in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. It is one of two railway stations in Tunbridge Wells constructed by rival companies. The other, Tunbridge Wells Central was opened in 1845 by the South Eastern Railway (SER). Tunbridge Wells West was closed to mainline passenger services in 1985, but part of it still remains as a heritage railway line. Opened in 1996, it stands next to the original engne shed (still in use).

Groombridge railway station is a station on the Spa Valley Railway (SVR) in Groombridge, East Sussex, England. Once a busy station serving four directions, it closed in 1985 to British Rail services. A new station the other side of Station Road bridge was opened by the SVR in 1997 as part of a standard gauge heritage railway to Tunbridge Wells West.

High Rocks railway station

High Rocks railway station is a station on the Spa Valley Railway in High Rocks, East Sussex, England. The original High Rocks Halt opened on 1 June 1907, as part of a London, Brighton and South Coast Railway scheme to boost traffic on its lines. It finally closed on 5 May 1952 due to low traffic (it had been closed from 16 October 1939 to 15 June 1942 as a wartime economy measure). The rest of the line soldiered on with ever decreasing services, to be finally closed 10 August 1985.

Harrison's Rocks

Harrison's Rocks is a sandstone crag approximately 1.5 kilometres south of the village of Groombridge in the county of East Sussex. The site is a notable example of a periglacial tor landform developed in rocks of the Tunbridge Wells Sand Formation. It is popular with rock climbers, and is the largest of the cluster of local outcrops known by climbers as Southern Sandstone.
