Fosse Way
The Fosse Way was a Roman road in England that linked Exeter in South West England to Lincoln in Lincolnshire, via Ilchester, Bath, Cirencester and Leicester. It joined Akeman Street and Ermin Way at Cirencester, crossed Watling Street at Venonis south of Leicester, and joined Ermine Street at Lincoln. The word Fosse is derived from the Latin fossa, meaning ditch.
Exeter City F.C
Exeter City Football Club is an English professional football club, based in Exeter, that plays in Football League Two. The club is owned by the club's supporters through the Exeter City Supporters Trust. The club was a member of the Football League from 1920 to 2003. Following five seasons in the Conference National, Exeter were promoted back to League Two for the 2008–09 season and immediately achieved automatic promotion to League One for the 2009–10 season.
Heavitree
Heavitree is a district of the city of Exeter in Devon, England. It lies to the east of the city centre, and was formerly the first significant village outside the city on the road to London. It was the birthplace of Thomas Bodley, and until 1818 was a site for executions.
Livery Dole
Livery Dole in Exeter, Devon, is an ancient triangular site between what is today Heavitree Road and Magdalen Road, in the eastern suburbs of Exeter. It was most notoriously used as a place for executions, and has contained an almshouse and chapel since 1591.
St James Park, Exeter
St James Park is a football stadium in Exeter and is the home of Exeter City F.C. The stadium is served by the St James Park railway station which is right next to the ground (the line runs behind the Grandstand). (It has been adopted by the club who contribute to its upkeep, under the community rail scheme, and its railings have been painted in the red and white of Exeter's strip).
Barnfield Theatre
The Barnfield Theatre in Exeter, England was originally built as The Barnfield Hall near the end of the 19th century by Exeter Literary Society and converted to a theatre in 1972, and is located near the centre of the city on Barnfield Road, Southernhay. Today the theatre is operated as a charity and is used as a venue for amateur and professional theatrical companies.
Exmouth Junction
Exmouth Junction is the railway junction where the Exmouth branch line diverges from the London Waterloo to Exeter main line in Exeter, Devon, England. It was for many years the location for one of the largest engine sheds in the former London and South Western Railway. The sidings served the railway’s concrete casting factory as well as a goods yard.

Newtown, Exeter
Newtown is an area of Exeter between St Sidwells and Heavitree and has been an area for the poor since Saxon times. A workhouse was built in 1671 on a site currently used as a car park, but Newtown remained largely rural up until the 19th century. Around 1700 a new workhouse was built on what is now the site of Heavitree Hospital. Brick and tile making were carried on in Exeter by the Romans from clay workings within the city wall.
St Sidwells
St Sidwells is an area east of Exeter city centre in the ward of Newtown. Formerly a village in its own right, St Sidwells grew in importance along with Exeter thanks to its location on the main cart track between Exeter and the high ground of Stoke Hill and the rich farmland of East Devon.
Wonford
Wonford is an undefined area in the centre of Exeter covering parts of St Loyes and Heavitree. Originally, Wonford was a royal estate named after a stream (now called Mincinglake) that rose on the southern slopes of Stoke Hill and flowed through Northbrook Park. In 937, the name was wynford meaning fair stream.

2008 Exeter bombing
The Exeter bombing was a failed attack which happened on 22 May 2008, at the Giraffe cafe and restaurant in Princesshay, Exeter, United Kingdom. Nicky Reilly, 22, a Muslim convert from Plymouth, pleaded guilty to launching a failed suicide attack on 15 October. The bomber was the only person injured.

Sandy Park
Sandy Park is a rugby union stadium in Exeter, England. It is the home ground of Exeter Chiefs who from the 2010/11 season have been playing in the Aviva Premiership, the top flight of the English rugby union league system. The club relocated there from their former stadium at the County Ground in 2006. The stadium can hold 10,744 spectators and is located adjacent M5 junction 30 which is around 5 miles from Exeter City Centre.

Polsloe
Polsloe is a suburb and ward of the city of Exeter in Devon, England. It lies to the east of the city centre. In 2001 the population of the ward of Polsloe was 6,197, making it the 7th most populous out of 18 wards in the city. The name Polsloe is derived from Poll's marsh, named after Poll, the owner of land here at the time of the Domesday Book. The Benedictine priory, Polsloe Priory was founded here in around 1159.
