Melbourne Hall
Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire, England was once the seat of the Victorian Prime Minister William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, and thus is the ultimate origin for the naming of Melbourne, Australia. The house is now the seat of Lord Ralph Kerr and Lady Kerr and is open to the public. The house is a Grade II* listed building; more than twenty features in the grounds are Grade I listed.
Sinfin Central railway station
Sinfin Central station was in the city of Derby, Derbyshire, England. The station was on the former line between Derby and Ashby de la Zouch, which closed in 1930. On 4 October 1976 a new unstaffed passenger station was opened to serve the nearby Rolls-Royce factory. Despite Derby City Council's efforts to encourage usage of public transport based on the Cross-City Line in Birmingham, the service was very under used.

Sinfin North Station was a railway station on the Sinfin branch in Derby, England. It opened on 4 October 1976 and closed on 17 May 1993. After closure, a service was provided by a taxi until 1998. The station had one platform and was not publicly accessible, due to being located between works sites.

Staunton Harold Reservoir
Staunton Harold Reservoir is a large reservoir under the management of Severn Trent Water, located between Melbourne and Ticknall in Derbyshire, England. Most of the water is within Derbyshire but a small part of the southern shore is over the border in Leicestershire. The reservoir was built in 1964 at the behest of the River Dove Water Board, meant to serve Leicester and the towns of northern Leicestershire.
Allenton house fire
The Allenton house fire occurred on 11 May 2012 at 18 Victory Road, a residential street in Allenton, Derby, Derbyshire, England. Five children died in the fire, while another later died in hospital. The parents of the children, Mick and Mairead Philpott, were later arrested and charged with murder, along with their friend Paul Mosley. In December 2012 their charges were downgraded to manslaughter.
