Derby Canal
The Derby Canal ran 14 miles from the Trent and Mersey Canal at Swarkestone to Derby and Little Eaton, and to the Erewash Canal at Sandiacre, in Derbyshire, England. The canal was authorised by an Act of Parliament in 1793 and was fully completed in 1796. It featured a level crossing of the River Derwent in the centre of Derby. An early tramroad, known as the Little Eaton Gangway, linked Little Eaton to coal mines at Denby.

Sinfin Central railway station
Sinfin Central station was in the city of Derby, Derbyshire, England. The station was on the former line between Derby and Ashby de la Zouch, which closed in 1930. On 4 October 1976 a new unstaffed passenger station was opened to serve the nearby Rolls-Royce factory. Despite Derby City Council's efforts to encourage usage of public transport based on the Cross-City Line in Birmingham, the service was very under used.

Chellaston Academy
Chellaston Academy, formerly Chellaston Foundation School, is a comprehensive school, technology college and Academy in Chellaston in the Derby area of England, United Kingdom. Its catchment area traditionally includes Chellaston, Aston-on-Trent, Weston-on-Trent, Melbourne, Ticknall, Barrow upon Trent and other areas of South Derbyshire. Pupils' ages range from 11 year-olds in year 7, through to adults in the sixth form college.
Osmaston Hall
Osmaston Hall was built in 1696 in extensive grounds of what is now Osmaston, a part of Derby. The house was the home of the Wilmot baronets, and the Fox family before being used for a golf club and railway business. The house was demolished in 1938.
Derby Conference Centre
The Derby Conference Centre is a Grade II listed building which was constructed in 1937 as the first purpose-built training college for railway staff, and opened its doors to students in 1938. It is located on London Road, on the outskirts of the centre of Derby. It houses a number of period features including the famous 'sunken lounge' and art deco staircase.
Allenton house fire
The Allenton house fire occurred on 11 May 2012 at 18 Victory Road, a residential street in Allenton, Derby, Derbyshire, England. Five children died in the fire, while another later died in hospital. The parents of the children, Mick and Mairead Philpott, were later arrested and charged with murder, along with their friend Paul Mosley. In December 2012 their charges were downgraded to manslaughter.
