Daisy Hill F.C

Daisy Hill F.C. are an English football club founded in 1894 and located in Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, Greater Manchester. They play their home games at New Sirs, St James Street in Westhoughton, which has a capacity of 2000. They currently play in the North West Counties League Division One and are full members of the Lancashire County Football Association. In 1989 they changed name to Westhoughton Town before reverting to Daisy Hill in 1994. They are nicknamed "The Daisies" or "The Cutters".

Westhoughton Mill

Westhoughton Mill (Rowe and Duncough's Mill), situated in Mill Street in the town of Westhoughton, near Bolton in Lancashire, was in 1812 the site of a Luddite arson attack. It had been built in 1804 by Richard Johnson Lockett, a Macclesfield man who had bought and lived in Westhoughton Hall, and leased out in 1808 to Thomas Rowe of Manchester. Westhoughton Hall was attacked at the same time.

Westhoughton High School is a community, comprehensive and specialist technology college for boys and girls aged 11–19 with 1234 pupils on roll. It is located in the small town of Westhoughton just off Bolton Road, to the west of Bolton, Greater Manchester. The current headteacher is Mr P J Hart. Gibfield Colliery

Gibfield Colliery was a coal mine which was part of the Fletcher, Burrows and Company's collieries in Atherton, Greater Manchester, then in the historic county of Lancashire, England. A shaft was sunk to the Trencherbone mine in 1829 by John Fletcher next to the Bolton and Leigh Railway line which opened in 1830. The colliery was served by sidings near Bag Lane Station. In 1872 the colliery was expanded when a second shaft was sunk to access the Arley mine at 1233 feet.
