Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic
The Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic (Turkmen: Түркменистан Совет Социалистик Республикасы Türkmenistan Sowet Sotsialistik Respublikasy; Russian: Туркменская Советская Социалистическая Республика Turkmenskaya Sovetskaya Sotsialisticheskaya Respublika), also known as the Turkmen SSR, was one of republics of the Soviet Union in Central Asia.
Olympic Stadium (Ashgabat)
Ashgabat Olympic Stadium (Turkmen: Saparmyrat Türkmenbaşy adyndaky Olimpiýa Stadiony) is a multi-purpose stadium in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches, but also for musical performances by Turkmen pop stars such as Maral Ibragimova. The stadium holds 35,000 people and was built in 2003. Despite the use of the name "Olympic Stadium" the facility was neither built as part of a bid to host the Olympic Games, nor has it been used in such games.
Ashgabat International Airport
Ashgabat International Airport, formerly known as Saparmurat Turkmenbashy International Airport, is one of two international airports in Turkmenistan. It is located approximately 10 km (6 mi) northwest of the capital Ashgabat (Ashkhabad). The airport, with its air traffic control tower and a 12,000-foot long precision approach runway (12L-30R), opened in 1994 and was named after the country's first president, Saparmyrat Niyazov.
Neutrality Arch
The Neutrality Arch was a monument located in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The three-legged arch, which became known locally as "The Tripod", was 75 metres tall and was built in 1998 on the orders of Turkmenistan's President Saparmurat Niyazov to commemorate the country's official position of neutrality. It cost $12 million to construct. The monument was topped by a 12-metre tall gold-plated statue of Niyazov which rotated to always face the sun.

Türkmenbaşy Palace is a palace in the capital city of Asgabat in Turkmenistan. It has been the presidential headquarters and home of the president of Turkmenistan for many years. President Saparmurat Niyazov, who styled himself Türkmenbaşy, and for whom it is named, lived in the palace between 1997 and his death in 2006.
Gypjak
Gypjak (also known as Kipchak) is a small village about 10 kilometers away from the Turkmen capital of Aşgabat. The village is known as the home village of the first President of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov. Niyazov, while president, built the Kipchak Mosque and a tomb there for his family. It is in this tomb where Niyazov was buried on December 24, 2006. The Gypjak Mosque, lies across a highway from the rest of the village but is generally open to both male and female visitors for prayer.
1948 Ashgabat earthquake
The 1948 Ashgabat earthquake, at a magnitude 7.3 Mw, occurred on 6 October 1948 near Ashgabat, in the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic. Due to censorship by the national government, the Ashgabat Earthquake was not much reported in USSR media. The scholars tend to agree that ban on publicity of the extent of earthquake casualties and damages did not allow the Soviet government to allocate enough financial resources to adequately respond to disaster. Independence Monument, Ashgabat
The "Independence Monument" is a monument located in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The design of this building was inspired by traditional Turkmen tents and the traditional headgear worn by Turkmen girls. Elements of the building commemorate the independence date of Turkmenistan, 27 October 1991. These elements include a 91-meter reinforced concrete tower with a 27-meter high golden gilt steel construction on top of the tower, along with an observation terrace with a diameter of 10 meters.

Paytagt Shopping Center is a 80 meter high shopping and business tower located in the south-east Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Building was designed and constructed by Turkish "Polimeks" in 2005. It contains a 3 story base and 21 story tower.

Turkmen Carpet Museum
The Turkmen Carpet Museum or the National Carpet Museum is a national museum, situated on 5 Gorogly Street in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It opened on 24 October 1994. It has the largest collection of Turkmen carpets of any museum. It has a rich collection of Turkmen carpets from the medieval through to the 20th century, including over 1000 carpets from the 18th and 19th centuries. Aside from its extensive collection of antique carpets, it has many carpet articles, chuvals, khurjuns, torba etc.

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan is the national bank of Turkmenistan. It is located 2 kilometres south of the centre of Ashgabat and is operated by the government. It was established in 1991 and regulates the country’s banking system and supervises the national financial policy. Ertuğrul Gazi Mosque
Ertuğrul Gazi Mosque or Ärtogrul Gazy Mosque is a mosque in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It honors Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. It is a prominent landmark in Ashgabat with its four minarets and central dome and has a lavish interior decoration with fine stained glass windows. The mosque was inaugurated in 1998 and this white marbled building is reminiscent of the Blue Mosque of Istanbul.
Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mosque
Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque or Gypjak Mosque (Turkmen: Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Metjidi) is a mosque in the village of Gypjak about 7 kilometres west of the centre of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on the M37 highway. The mosque was constructed by the French company Bouygues, was built in the late Saparmurat Niyazov's home town. It opened on October 22, 2004 and was built by Niyazov with a tomb in preparation for his death. He was laid to rest in the tomb on December 24, 2006.
Azadi Mosque
Ertogrul Gazi Mosque on Azadi str. is a mosque located just south of Magtymguly şayoli,in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It was one of the first mosques built after the independence of Turkmenistan in the early 1990s and like several other mosques in the country resembles that of the Blue Mosque in İstanbul. However, during its construction there were a number of accidental deaths, as a result it attracts few worshippers as some people are convinced it gives bad luck.
