Zanzibar
Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, in East Africa. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres ( ) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of numerous small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar), and Pemba. The capital of Zanzibar, located on the island of Unguja, is Zanzibar City.
Stone Town
Stone Town also known as Mji Mkongwe (Swahili for "old town") is the old part of Zanzibar City, the main city of Zanzibar, in Tanzania, as opposed to Ng'ambo (Swahili for 'the other side'). It is located on the western coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago.
Koani
Koani is a city located on the Tanzanian island of Unguja (Zanzibar). The city serves as capital of the Zanzibar Central/South region.
HMS Pegasus (1897)
HMS Pegasus was one of 11 Pelorus-class protected cruisers ordered for the Royal Navy in 1893 under the Spencer Program and based on the earlier Pearl-class. The class were fitted with a variety of different boilers, most of which were not entirely satisfactory, and by 1914, four ships had been withdrawn. They had all been condemned in 1904 but were reprieved and remained in service, with scrapping proposed in 1915.
Chumbe Island
Chumbe Island is a small privately owned island a few kilometres off of the main island of Zanzibar, known for its ecological innovation and exceptional coral reefs. In 1994, the island and its surrounding waters were declared the Chumbe Island Coral Park, which contains the Chumbe Reef Sanctuary and the Closed Forest Reserve. The park is run by the nonprofit private organization Chumbe Island Coral Park, Ltd.

Amaan Stadium
Amaan Stadium (also spelled Amani) is a football stadium in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 15,000 people. The stadium was the location of a ceremony uniting the Afro-Shirazi Party and the Tanganyika African National Union into the Chama cha Mapinduzi. The flags of the respective parties were raised and lowered for the last time with the flag of the Chama cha Mapinduzi then being raised. The ceremony took place on February 5, 1997.
Mbweni, Zanzibar
Mbweni is a town on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar. It is located on the central west coast, seven kilometres south of the Zanzibari capital of Stone Town. The town is a popular day trip for tourists and locals. Mbweni's attractions include botanical gardens and the ruins of a nineteenth-century Christian mission.
Bububu
Bububu is a town on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar. It is located on the central west coast, 10 kilometres north of the Zanzibari capital of Stone Town. The town is predominantly a densely populated industrial town, but it is also noted for its beach, which is one of the best within easy reach of the capital. One of the first railways in Zanzibar was built in 1905 to connect Bububu to Stone Town.
Chukwani
Chukwani is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located in the west of the island, south of the town of Mbweni, Zanzibar, and not far from Chukwani International Airport.
Jendele
Jendele is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located in the centre of the island, on the main route between Zanzibar City and Chwaka, to the north of the Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park.
Fuoni
Fuoni is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located five kilometres to the southeast of Zanzibar City, immediately to the east of the village of Mwana Kwerekwe. Several Daladalas (small local busses) with the number 504 are transferring from the Darajani to Fuoni.
Fumba
Fumba is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located in the southwest of the island, at the end of the Fumba Peninsula, and overlooks Menai Bay.
Kibweni
Kibweni is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located on the west coast, five kilometres to the north of the capital, Zanzibar City, on the road to Bububu and Chuini.
State University of Zanzibar
State University of Zanzibar is located is located on Unguja island in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The university was established by an act of House of Representatives of Zanzibar in 1999 and became operational in 2002.
Changuu
Changuu Island (also known as Kibandiko, Prison or Quarantine Island) is a small island 3.5 miles north-west of Stone Town, Unguja, Zanzibar. The island is around 880 yards long and 250 yards wide at its broadest point. The island saw use as a prison for rebellious slaves in 1860s and also functioned as a coral mine. The British First Minister of Zanzibar, Lloyd Mathews, purchased the island in 1893 and constructed a prison complex there.
Forodhani Gardens
The Forodhani Gardens (also known as Jubilee Gardens and more recently as Forodhani Park) are a small park of the historical city of Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. The gardens are located along the main seawalk of Stone Town, just in front of the most famous buildings of Stone Town, i.e. , the House of Wonders and the Old Fort.
Battle of Zanzibar
The Battle of Zanzibar was a naval battle of the First World War between the Kaiserliche Marine and the Royal Navy. The German cruiser SMS Konigsberg had been taking on coal in the delta of the Rufiji River when her crew were told that a British cruiser—HMS Pegasus, which had been part of the Royal Navy's Cape Squadron sent to counter Koningsberg—had put in at Zanzibar for repairs. Konigsberg′s captain—Commander Max Looff—decided to attack Pegasus while she was in port.
House of Wonders
The House of Wonders or Palace of Wonders is a landmark building in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It is the largest and tallest building of Stone Town and occupies a prominent place facing the Forodhani Gardens on the old town's seafront, in Mizingani Road. It is located between the Old Fort and the Palace Museum (and former Sultan's Palace).
Bawe Island
Bawe Island is a small island in the Zanzibar Archipelago, in Tanzania. It is located about 10 km offshore Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar on the island of Unguja. At the end of the 18th century, sultan Barghash ibn Sa'id of Zanzibar gave the island to the Eastern Telegraph Company, that used it as an operation station for the underwater telegraph cable connecting Zanzibar to Seychelles and Aden.
Palace Museum, Zanzibar
The Palace Museum, also known as Sultan's Palace (Beit el-Sahel in Arab), is one of the main historical buildings of Stone Town, Zanzibar. It is a 3-floors building with merlon-decorated white walls, located in Mizingani Road, on the seafront, between the House of Wonders and the Old Dispensary. The palace was built in late 19th century to serve as a residence for the Sultan's family.
St. Joseph's Cathedral, Zanzibar
The Roman Catholic cathedral of St. Joseph is one of the most important historical buildings in Stone Town, Zanzibar, as well as one of its main visitor attractions. The church is regularly used by the local Catholic community, with several masses being held each Sunday and occasionally on weekdays.
