Civil defense
Civil defense (civil defence), or civil protection is an effort to protect the citizens of a state from military attack. It uses the principles of emergency operations: prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, or emergency evacuation, and recovery. Hallenstadion
The Hallenstadion is a multi-purpose facility and is mainly home to the ZSC Lions of the National League A, in the Swiss city of Zurich. Designed by Bruno Giacometti, it opened on July 18, 1939, and was renovated in 2005. The arena is located in the quarter of Oerlikon in northern Zurich and has a capacity of up to 13,000 spectators in boxing.
Avenir Suisse
Avenir Suisse is a free-market liberal Swiss think tank. Founded and initially financed in 1999 by 14 internationally operating Swiss companies, Avenir Suisse is constituted as a foundation under Swiss law and considers itself independent from outside interests. The foundation's name translates to "Swiss Future". According to its mission statement, Avenir Suisse "wants to contribute to the formation of new ideas concerning economics, politics and the society at large.
Hardturm
The Hardturm was a football stadium located in Zurich's Kreis 5. Opened in 1929, it was the home of the Grasshopper-Club Zürich. It was a host stadium for the 1954 FIFA World Cup. When the stadium was opened in 1929 it could hold 27,500 spectators. After many reconstructions the capacity was 38,000 in 1986, on time for the 100-Year Anniversary of the Grasshopper-Club Zürich. Before closing, Hardturm could hold 17,666 spectators with standing areas for the home and away fans.
Oerlikon (Zurich)
Oerlikon is a quarter in the northern part of Zurich, Switzerland. A formerly independent municipality, Oerlikon was merged with Zurich in 1934 and forms today, together with Affoltern and Seebach, the city district 11.
Stadion Zürich
Stadion Zürich is a planned stadium in Zurich, Switzerland. It will be the home stadium of FC Zürich and Grasshopper-Club Zürich, replacing the Hardturm stadium which was closed in September 2007. A initial project was announced in 2003 and should have been ready for Euro 2008. It was backed by the City of Zurich and Credit Suisse. The multi-use stadium would have had a capacity of 30,000 people.
Industriequartier (Zurich)
Industriequartier is a district in the Swiss city of Zurich. The district comprises the quarters Gewerbeschule and Escher Wyss. Together with today's District 4, the district formed the formerly separate municipality of Aussersihl, which was incorporated into Zurich in 1893.

Affoltern is a quarter in the district 11 in Zurich, located in the Glatt Valley .
Höngg
Zürich (Höngg) is a quarter in the district 10 in Zürich. It was formerly a municipality of its own, having been incorporated into Zürich in 1934. The quarter has a population of 21,186 distributed on an area of 6.98 km². Höngg is well renowned for its fun fairs such as the Wümmetfest and the Räbeliechtli Umzug.
Wipkingen
Wipkingen is a quarter in the district 10 in Zurich. It was formerly a municipality of its own, having been incorporated into Zurich in 1893. The quarter has a population of 15,446 distributed on an area of 2.11 km².
Escher Wyss (Zurich)
Escher Wyss is a quarter in the district 5 of Zurich. It was formerly a part of Aussersihl municipality, which was incorporated into Zurich in 1893. The quarter has a population of 2,727 distributed on an area of 1.27 km (⁄2 sq. mile). It takes its name from the company Escher Wyss & Cie. that was formerly based in the area. The company's former Schiffbau, or shipbuilding hall, is now a theatre venue operated by the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
District 10 (Zurich)
District 10 is a district in the Swiss city of Zurich. The district comprises the quarters Höngg and Wipkingen. Both entities were formerly municipalities of their own, but were incorporated into Zurich in 1934 and 1893 respectively.

District 11 is a district east of the old town in the Swiss city of Zurich. The district comprises the quarters Affoltern, Oerlikon and Seebach. All entities were formerly municipalities of their own, but were incorporated into Zurich in 1934.
Käferberg
Käferberg (el. 571 metres) and Waidberg (el. 601 metres) are the summits of a wooded mountain respectively chain of hills overlooking the inner city of Zurich, Lake Zurich, Albis chain and Uetliberg, as well as the Limmat Valley and the Zürcher Unterland in Switzerland.
Zürich Affoltern railway station
Zürich Affoltern is a railway station in the Affoltern quarter of the Swiss city of Zurich. The station is located on the Furttal railway line and is served by line S6 of the Zürich S-Bahn, together with bus routes 37, 61 and 62 of the Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ). In 2010, the station was rebuilt with the introduction of a convenience store and parking for 130 bicycles. The store is open 365 days a year from dawn to dusk and is part of the Migrolino chain owned the Migros company.
Zürich Oerlikon railway station
Zürich Oerlikon is a railway station located at Oerlikon in the city of Zürich, Switzerland. It is a major nodal point and junction for both the Zurich S-Bahn network and the Swiss rail network as a whole. Trains on 7 lines of the S-Bahn serve the station, as do frequent inter-regional trains. Inter-city passenger and freight traffic also passes through the station without stopping.
Kunsthalle Zürich
The Kunsthalle Zürich is a contemporary art exhibition centre in Zurich, Switzerland. It is located on Limmatstrasse, near the city centre. The current director is Beatrix Ruf. A number of temporary exhibitions are organized each year. Artists exhibited include Trisha Donnelly, Helmut Federle, Gabriel Orozco, Philippe Parreno, Wilhelm Sasnal, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Keith Tyson.
Oerliker Park
The Oerliker Park covers 188'000 ft² and was designed as a public multi-purpose district park in Oerlikon just to the north of Zurich. The Oerliker Park was created by the Office of Parks and Open Spaces of Zurich in 2001 as part of the regional development project "Zentrum Zürich Nord" and was the first of four parks.
Louis-Häfliger-Park
The Louis-Häfliger-Park in Oerlikon, Zurich, covers 53,820 ft² and is embedded between the Regina-Kägi-Hof co-operative settlement, the existing production buildings for Oerlikon-Contraves AG, and new service buildings. It is a neighbourhood park allowing people who live or work here to relax and meet. The name of the park reminds to of Louis Häfliger (1904–1993), “Saviour of Mauthausen”. He saved the lives of about 40.000 inmates of the Mauthausen concentration camp.
Gustav-Ammann-Park
The Gustav-Ammann-Park is a public park in Oerlikon, Zurich, is built on the former area of the Bürhle AG and covers 32,291 ft². In 1996, the privately owned park became a preserve. One year later, the formerly nameless facility was handed over to the population as Gustav-Ammann-Park. It was gently renovated in 2004/2005, maintaining all historical garden monuments.
Zürich Wipkingen railway station
Zürich Wipkingen is a railway station in the Wipkingen quarter of the Swiss city of Zürich. It is served by lines S2, S8 and S14 of the Zürich S-Bahn.
Zürich Seebach railway station
Zürich Seebach is a railway station in the Seebach quarter of the Swiss city of Zürich. It is located on the Furttal railway line and is served by line S6 of the Zürich S-Bahn.
