Abbey of Saint Gall
The Abbey of Saint Gall (German: Fürstabtei St. Gallen) is a religious complex in the city of St. Gallen in present-day Switzerland. The Carolingian-era Abbey has existed since 719 and became an independent principality during the 13th century, and was for many centuries one of the chief Benedictine abbeys in Europe. It was founded by Saint Othmar on the spot where Saint Gall had erected his hermitage. The library at the Abbey is one of the richest medieval libraries in the world.

AFG Arena
The AFG Arena is a multi-use stadium in St. Gallen, Switzerland, completed in 2008. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of FC St. Gallen of the Swiss Challenge League. It replaces the Espenmoos stadium. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people. The name comes from the sponsor, the Arbonia-Forster-Gruppe AFG. When it was completed, FC St. Gallen was just relegated to the Challenge League.

Gübsensee
Gübsensee is a reservoir near the city of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Its dams were built between 1898 and 1900, the first hydroelectric reservoir in Switzerland. Kraftwerk Kubel has generated electrical power there since 1900. Gübsensee Ost is a gravity dam with a height of 24 m, Gübsensee West an earthfill dam. The lake's surface area is 0.17 km². Its volume is 1.5 mio m³.
Sarganserland
The Sarganserland is a constituency (Wahlkreis) of the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, with a population of 36,892. The constituency corresponds to the historical county of Sargans (13th to 15th century) and the later Landvogtei Sargans in the Old Swiss Confederacy (15th to 18th century). Part of the Canton of Linth in the Helvetic Republic, the Sarganserland together with Pfäfers was joined to the canton of St. Gallen at its formation in 1803.
Hauptwil
Hauptwil is a village and former municipality in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1413 as Hoptwill. The municipality had 50 inhabitants in 1649, which increased to 598 in 1850, 741 in 1900, 819 in 1950 and 910 in 1990. In 1996 the municipality was merged with the neighboring municipality Gottshaus to form a new and larger municipality Hauptwil-Gottshaus.

Gottshaus is a village and former municipality in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. It was first recorded somewhere between year 1250 and 1300 as Gottshaus. The municipality also contained the village Sankt Pelagiberg as well as 40 others. It had 781 inhabitants in 1850, which went up and down over the years to 676 in 1900, 798 in 1950, 707 in 1980 and 811 in 1990.

Abbey library of Saint Gall
The Abbey Library of Saint Gall was founded by Saint Othmar, the founder of the Abbey of St. Gall. The library collection is the oldest in Switzerland, and is one of earliest and most important monastic libraries in the world. It holds 2,100 manuscripts dating back to the 8th through the 15th centuries, 1,650 incunabula (printed before 1500), and old printed books. The library holds almost 160,000 volumes. The manuscript B of the Nibelungenlied is kept here.
Theater St. Gallen
The Theater St. Gallen is a performing arts center for opera, musical, ballet, and theatre in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and considered to be the oldest professional theatre in Switzerland. Although the monks Tutilo and Notker already inspired briefly lay theatre in St. Gallen during the Middle Ages, theatre did not flourish for a long time because of moral concerns. In the early 19th century interest in theatre was reawakened.

It is part of the Swiss heritage site of national significance. The castle is first mentioned in 1219 as in arce Clanx. It was built by the Abbot of St. Gall Ulrich von Sax (1204–20) and his brother, the Abbey-Vogt Heinrich. It was named after the Sax family holding in the Calanca valley.

Wegelin & Co
Wegelin & Co. is the oldest bank in Switzerland (and the 13th oldest in the world), but since January 2012 it no longer has any significant assets or operations and announced its intention to close in early 2013. The bank is located in St. Gallen in the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and specialized in private banking and asset management. Between 2002 and 2010, Wegelin & Co. assisted citizens of the United States in evading taxes on assets totalling over $1.2 billion.
