Vallipuram
Vallipuram was an ancient capital of the Northern Kingdoms of Sri Lanka. Point Pedro is the nearest town. Vallipuram is a part of Thunnalai. This place is settled by migrants from a town called Vallipuram near Namakkal which is near Coimbatore. Naga names are found in India. Nagpur, Nagar Kovil, Nagapatnam and Nagaland are examples. Nair, nayakkar, naidu are remnants of Naga heritage. Tamils are a linguistic name; but Nagas are more of a racially based line.

Nelliady
Nelliady is the largest city in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. After the 2004 tsunami and the on-going civil war, people started moving towards places of safety from the sea coasts. Nelliady became a ready-made town for all the affected refugees. Nelliady also had plenty of fresh water supply from the Athulu Reservoir. It slowly started changing into a crowded city after the people of northern and eastern coasts started moving into a peaceful rural environment.

Point Pedro Hospital is a government hospital in Point Pedro, Sri Lanka. It is controlled by the provincial government in Jaffna. As of 2010 it had 264 beds. The hospital is sometimes called Point Pedro Base Hospital. As well as general medical and surgical care the hospital provides a wide variety of healthcare services including diabetic, dentistry, dermatology, family planning, gynaecology, obstetrics (ante-natal), oncology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, psychiatry and tuberculosis.
