The Battle of Trincomalee was the fourth in the series of battles fought between a British fleet under Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Hughes and a French fleet under the Bailli de Suffren off the coast of India during the American Revolutionary War. The battle was fought on 3 September 1782.

SLAF China Bay

Triconamalee airport திருகோணமலை விமான நிலையம்-(சைனா பே விமான படை தளம்) is a Sri Lanka Air Force base located at China Bay, Trincomalee. Kinniya

It is a small town in the Trincomalee District of the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. It is located about 20 km from the town of Trincomalee and 240 km from the national capital Colombo. With over 35,000 inhabitants, 97% of Kinniya residents are ethnic Muslims with the remaining being Tamils. Capture of Trincomalee (1795)

The Capture of Trincomalee was the taking by force of the port of Trincomalee in the island of Ceylon by British forces on August 26, 1795. The principal fortress, Fort Ostenburg, held out until August 31. On 23 July 1795 a squadron under Commodore Peter Rainier consisting of Suffolk, Hobart, Centurion, Diomede, with troop-transports, and sailed for Ceylon to take Trincomalee and other Dutch settlements on Ceylon.

Kinniya Bridge

Kinniya Bridge is the longest bridge in Sri Lanka with a length of 396 metres . It crosses the lagoon area surrounded by Koddiyar and Tambalagam bay. It links Trincomalee with Kinniya, enabling civilians to cross the Kinniya lagoon to reach Kinniya and Muttur areas by the A15 highway. The bridge was completed and declared open on 20 October 2009 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Prior to that, Manampitiya bridge was Sri Lanka's longest bridge.
