Nador

Nador is a city located in the northeastern Rif region of Morocco. The city is a Mediterranean port on the Bḥar Ameẓẓyan lagoon (Mar Chica in Spanish), and it is the major trading center in the region for fish, fruit, and livestock. It is linked to the Spanish city of Melilla, 12 kilometers to the north, by a semi-motorway. Nador is populated by a Riff-Berber population of more than 180,000 inhabitants. The city became the administrative capital of an independent province within Morocco in 1956.

Melilla Airport

Melilla Airport is an airport located 4 km southwest Melilla, Spain. The airport is located near the border with Morocco. Between 1931 and 1967 Melilla was served by the Tauima Aerodrome, even when Morocco had gained its independence in 1956. This Spanish controlled airport did not open until 1969. The airport does not handle large jets, the airlines serving the airport use either regional jets or turboprop airliners.

Cape Three Forks is a headland on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco. The Arabic name (Ras Tleta Madari), the French name (Cap des Trois Fourches) and the Spanish name (Cabo de Tres Forcas), all signify the same thing: the Cape of the Three Forks. The cape is a large mountainous promontory of North Africa into the Mediterranean Sea. For centuries, this cape has provided both a nautical landmark and a maritime hazard for ships in the Alboran Sea.

Lourmel Airfield is an abandoned military airfield in Algeria, located in the El Amria area. During World War II it was a civil airport seized by the United States Army during the Operation Torch landings in November 1942. After its capture from the Vichy French, it was used by the United States Army Air Force Twelfth Air Force 61st Troop Carrier Group during the North African Campaign. The 61st flew C-47 Skytrain transports from the airfield from 15 May-21 June 1943

Nador railway stations

The city of Nador in Morocco has two railway-stations: Nador Ville and Nador South. Further on the line there is also a station at Bin Anşār and the terminal Bin Anşār Port, which is generally indicated as Nador Port station. As with all railway stations in Morocco, these stations are operated by ONCF, Morocco's national railway operator. Nador Ville railway station is the main station and serves the single track line through the city.

Siege of Melilla (1774)

The Siege of Melilla was an attempt by the British-backed Sultanate of Morocco to capture the Spanish fortress of Melilla on the Moroccan Mediterranean coast. Mohammed ben Abdallah, then Sultan of Morocco, invested Melilla in December 1774 with a large army of Royal Moroccan soldiers and Algerian mercenaries. The city was defended by a small garrison under Irish-born Governor Don Juan Sherlocke until the siege was lifted by a relief fleet in March 1775.
