South African Republic
The South African Republic (Dutch: Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, or ZAR), often informally known as the Transvaal Republic, was an independent Boer-ruled country in Southern Africa during the second half of the 19th century. Not to be confused with the present-day Republic of South Africa, it occupied the area later known as the South African province of Transvaal.
Union Buildings
The Union Buildings form the official seat of the South African government and also house the offices of the president of South Africa. The imposing buildings are located in Pretoria, atop Meintjieskop at the northern end of Arcadia, close to historic Church Square and the Voortrekker Monument. The large gardens of the Buildings are nestled between Government Avenue, Vermeulen Street East, Church Street, the R104 and Blackwood Street.
Church Square, Pretoria
Church Square or Kerkplein, is the historic centre of the city of Pretoria, South Africa. Its most prominent feature is the statue of the Boer leader and president of the South African Republic Paul Kruger at its centre. Statues of four anonymous Boer citizen-soldiers surround that of Kruger's on a lower level of the plinth.

Loftus Versfeld Stadium
Loftus Versfeld Stadium is a rugby and association football stadium situated in the Arcadia suburb of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The stadium has a capacity of 51,762 for rugby union and hosted the 2009 Currie Cup final. It is occasionally used for local football matches as well. In June 2010, the stadium hosted opening round games and one game of the round of 16 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Steve Biko Hospital (Formerly the Pretoria Academic Hospital and before 1994 called H F Verwoerd Hospital) of Pretoria, South Africa, previously located at what is now Tshwane District Hospital, is a purely tertiary training healthcare institution. It is the main teaching hospital of the University of Pretoria along with Kalafong Hospital in Atteridgeville to west of the city centre.
Apies River
The Apies River is a river that flows through the city of Pretoria, South Africa. Its source is located just south of the city and it flows northward until it drains into the Pienaars River. The river is also known as the Apiesrivier in Afrikaans (in which "Apies" means "small monkeys").
Church Street bombing
The Church Street bombing was a car bomb attack on 20 May 1983 by Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress, in the South African capital Pretoria. The bombing killed 19 and wounded 217, and was one of the largest attacks engaged in by the ANC during its armed struggle against apartheid. The attack consisted of a car bomb set off outside the Nedbank Square building on Church Street at 4:30pm on a Friday.
Mahlamba Ndlopfu
Mahlamba Ndlopfu is the Official Residence for the President of South Africa in Bryntirion, Pretoria. The house, formerly called Libertas, was designed by Architect Gerard Moerdijk in a traditional Cape Dutch style and completed in 1940 as the official residence for the Prime Minister of South Africa. It is surrounded by impressive gardens. Through the years, slight changes were made on the building. After the post of Prime Minister was abolished in 1984, it became the presidential residence.

Rovos Rail
Rovos Rail is a private railway company operating out of Capital Park Station in Pretoria, South Africa. The Society of International Railway Travelers has regularly named the Pride of Africa, as the train is called, as one of the World's Top 25 Trains because of its excellent accommodation, public spaces, service, dining and off-train sightseeing. Rovos Rail runs its train-hotel to a regular schedule on various routes throughout Southern Africa, from South Africa to Namibia and Tanzania.
Gert van Rooyen
Cornelius Gerhardus van Rooyen ('Gert' "Bokkie" van Rooyen) was an alleged South African paedophile and serial killer (although never convicted) who, together with his female partner Joey Haarhoff, abducted and apparently murdered at least six young girls between 1988 and 1989. Their victims were never found as the pair, it was said, apparently, committed suicide when faced with arrest after the escape of their last kidnap victim.
University of Pretoria Library Services
University of Pretoria Library Services serves the students, faculty and researchers of the University of Pretoria. The library of the University of Pretoria is regarded as one of the best university libraries in South Africa. It provides a comprehensive information service for the university's approximately 40 800 undergraduate students, 12 700 postgraduates and 4 000 full-time staff members.

Special Collections is a self-contained unit in the University of Pretoria Library Services. The mission of the Special Collections unit is to play a stewardship role in the preservation and proper archiving of its information resources and to ensure their optimal accessibility to the research community. Meintjieskop
Meintjieskop is a hill in Pretoria on which the Union Buildings (die Uniegebou in Afrikaans) were constructed. Marthinus Wessel Pretorius, later to become first president of the Transvaal Republic, was the original owner of the farm 'Elandsfontein' on which Meintjieskop stands. In 1856 Andries Francois du Toit (1813–1883), in exchange for a Basuto pony, acquired part of the farm, which he named 'Arcadia'.

The North Gauteng High Court, Pretoria (formerly the Transvaal Provincial Division and commonly known as the Pretoria High Court) is one of the High Courts of South Africa.
University of Pretoria
The University of Pretoria is a multi campus public research university in Pretoria, the administrative and de facto capital of South Africa. The university was established in 1908 as the Pretoria campus of the Johannesburg-based Transvaal University College and is the fourth South African institution in continuous operation to be awarded university status. The university has grown from the original 32 students in a single late Victorian house to approximately 39,000 in 2010.

Bon Accord Dam
Bon Accord Dam is an earth-fill type dam located on the Apies River, some 15 km north of Pretoria. The dam comprises an earth embankment with a side spillway. The catchment area of the dam is 315 km² and comprises primarily of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipal area in Gauteng, South Africa. It was established in 1923 and its main purpose is for irrigation.

Ou Raadsaal
Ou Raadsaal (also known as Old Council Chamber, Old Government Building, and Republikeinse Raadsaal) was the Parliament Building of the Transvaal Republic Government in Pretoria, South Africa. The Volksraad sat session in this building at the end of the 19th century when Paul Kruger was the last President of the old Boer Republic. The Renaissance Revival architecture building, designed by Sytze Wierda, is located on the south side of Church Square.
