Gmina Porąbka is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Porąbka, which lies approximately 11 kilometres east of Bielsko-Biała and 51 km south of the regional capital Katowice. Solahütte
Solahütte (AKA Solehütte, Soletal, SS-Hütte Soletal, SS Hütte Porabka) was a little-known resort for the Nazi German guards, administrators, and auxiliary personnel of the Auschwitz/Birkenau/Buna facilities. Because Auschwitz detainees overseen by Franz Hössler constructed the rustic getaway facility and a crew of detainees did ongoing grounds-keeping and cleanup work, Solahütte can be considered a tiny subcamp of Auschwitz.
Żar (mountain)
Żar is a mountain in Beskid Mały, Poland, 761 m above the sea level. A pumped-storage hydroelectricity power plant (500 MW generating power) is located on the top of this mountain. The mountaintop reservoir is 650 m long, up to 250 m wide, and up to 28 m deep. It can contain 2,310,000 m³ of water. Underneath the mountain is an artificial lake (the Międzybrodzkie lake) that was created by damming the Soła river.
