Juche Tower
The Juche Tower (officially the Tower of the Juche Idea) is a monument in Pyongyang, North Korea. The tower is named after the principle of Juche, developed by Kim Il Sung as a blend of autarky, self-reliance, nationalism, Korean traditionalism, and Marxism-Leninism. Completed in 1982, it is sited on the eastern bank of the River Taedong, directly opposite Kim Il Sung Square which is situated on the other side of the river. It was made to commemorate Kim Il Sung's 70th birthday.
Supreme People's Assembly
The Supreme People's Assembly (Hangul: 최고 인민 회의) is the unicameral parliament of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. It consists of one deputy from each of 687 constituencies, elected to five-year terms. North Korea is a single-party state with the Workers' Party of Korea in power. Although two other parties exist, they are completely subservient to the WPK, which is granted a monopoly of power under the constitution.
Yanggakdo International Hotel
Yanggakdo International Hotel is one of the largest working hotels and the second tallest building in North Korea, after the Ryugyong Hotel. The hotel is located on Yanggakdo (Yanggak Island), two kilometers to the south-east of the center of Pyongyang, the nation's capital. It rises to an overall height of 170 metres and sports a slowly revolving restaurant on the 47th floor. The hotel is said to contain 1,000 rooms and a total floor space of 87,870 square metres .
Chongnyon Hotel
The Chongnyon Hotel is a Class 'A' hotel located in P'yongyang, the capital city of North Korea. It has 30 floors, and opened in 1989. It is located at Chongchun (Youth) Street, Mangyongdae district, at the junction of Chongchun Street and Kwangbok (Liberation) Street.
List of airports in North Korea
This is a list of airports in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. North Korea may have as many as 78 usable airfields, although the state's secrecy makes it difficult to ascertain their number and condition with certainty. The state carrier, Air Koryo, joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the late 1990s, and North Korea has proclaimed a program to upgrade several airports to international standards.
Liberation Monument
The Liberation Monument is a monument in Pyongyang, North Korea. It was built in 1947 to honour Red Army soldiers who took part in liberating Korea from Imperial Japanese occupation during the final stage of the Second World War. Soviet paratroopers took control of Pyongyang on August 24, 1945. The monument is composed of a stele surmounted by a five-pointed red star, with the entire structure attaining a height of 30 meters.
Kim Chaek University of Technology
Kim Chaek University of Technology is a university in North Korea, located on the bank of the Taedong River in Pyongyang. The university is named after General Kim Chaek. Kim Chaek University of Technology was originally part of Kim Il Sung University before it was established as the Pyongyang College of Technology (平壤工業大學)" in 1948.
Battle of Pyongyang
The Battle of Pyongyang was the second major land battle of the First Sino-Japanese War. It took place on 15 September 1894 in Pyongyang, Korea between the forces of Meiji Japan and Qing China. It is sometimes referred to archaically in western sources as the “Battle of Ping-yang”.
Songyo-guyok
Sŏn'gyo-guyŏk or Songyo District is one of the 19 guyŏk that constitute the city of Pyongyang, North Korea. It is on the eastern bank of the Taedong River at the center of East Pyongyang. It is bordered to the south by Nakrang-guyok, to the north by Tongdaewon-guyok and to the east by Ryokpo and Sadong-guyoks. It was established in September 1959.
Tongdaewon-guyok
Tongdaewŏn-guyŏk or Tongdaewon District is one of the 20 wards, and one of the six that constitute East Pyongyang, North Korea. It sits on the eastern bank of the Taedong River. It is north of Sŏn'gyo-guyŏk (Songyo District), south of Taedonggang-guyŏk (Taedonggang District) and west of Sadong-guyŏk (Sadong District) and Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk (Ryokpho District). It was established in October 1960.
Kim Il-sung Square
Kim Il-sung Square is a large city square in the center of Pyongyang, North Korea, and is named after the founding leader of North Korea, Kim Il-sung. Opened in August 1954, the square is located on the west bank of the Taedong River, directly opposite the Juche Tower on the other side of the river. It is the 30th largest square in the world, having an area of about 75,000 square meters (807,293 square feet) which can accommodate a rally of more than 100,000 people.
East Pyongyang Grand Theatre
The East Pyongyang Grand Theatre is a 2500 seat theatre located in the North Korean city of Pyongyang. It was the site of the 2008 concert by the New York Philharmonic, which was the first significant cultural visit to North Korea by the United States since the Korean War. The hall was built in 1989 and is normally a venue for performances that celebrate North Korea's dynastic leaders and national achievements, and "revolutionary operas that depict North Korea's struggles in song and dance.

The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) is the ruling political party of North Korea (DPRK). It is also called the Korean Workers' Party (KWP).
Taedongmun
Not to be confused with Dongdaemun, the old east gate of Seoul TaedongmunChosŏn'gŭl 대동문 Hancha 大同門 McCune–Reischauer Taedongmun Revised Romanization Daedongmun Taedong Gate is the eastern gate of the inner castle of the walled city of Pyongyang, and one of the National Treasures of North Korea.
Ryongwang Pavilion
Ryongwang Pavilion is a scenic overlook located in the central district of Pyongyang, North Korea. Located on the bank of the Taedong River, the pavilion was first constructed during the Goguryeo dynasty as "Sansu Pavilion", and was part of the defenses of the walled city of Pyongyang (along with the nearby Taedong Gate and Pyongyang Bell. It is labeled as National Treasure #16 in North Korea.
Changchung Cathedral
Changchung Cathedral is the nominal cathedral of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Pyongyang, North Korea, located in the Changchung neighborhood of Songyo-guyok, Pyongyang. It is one of only four official Christian places of worship in Pyongyang. Before the division of Korea, Pyongyang was the city with the highest number of Christian believers in Korea, and was known as the "Korean Jerusalem". By 1945, nearly 1/6 of its citizens were Christians.
Grand People's Study House
The Grand People's Study House is the central library located in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang. The building is situated on Kim Il-sung Square by the banks of the Taedong River.
Party Founding Museum
The Party Founding Museum is a museum located in Pyongyang, North Korea. The building was constructed by the Japanese occupation government in 1923. It was used as the South P'yŏngan Provincial Products Exhibition. After his return to Korea after World War II, Kim Il-Sung is alleged to have founded the Korean Worker's Party in this building on October 10, 1945, and here were held many of that group's first meetings. Thus, in 1970 it was turned into a museum dedicated to his exploits.
Sungnyong Hall
Sungryong Hall is a shrine dedicated to the founding kings of ancient Korea located in the center of Pyongyang, North Korea. It is listed as National Treasure #6.
Okryugwan
Okryugwan or Okryu Restaurant is a restaurant in Pyongyang, North Korea, founded in 1960. North Korea analyst Andrei Lankov describes it as one of two restaurants—the other being Ch'ongryugwan—which have "defined the culinary life of Pyongyang" since the 1980s, and a "living museum of culinary art". The chief chef is Ra Suk-gyong.
Okryu Bridge
Okryu Bridge, also spelled Ongnyu Bridge, is a bridge on the Taedong River in Pyongyang, North Korea. Construction began in March 1958; the bridge was opened in August 1960. Located between the Rungra Bridge and Taedong Bridge, it is one of six Pyongyang bridges on the Taedong. It connects Chung-guyok on the Taedong's right (west) bank to Taedonggang-guyok on the left bank. The famous restaurant Okryugwan is near its right foot, while the Juche Tower is located just south of its left foot.
Rungna Bridge
The Rungna Bridge is a bridge in Pyongyang, North Korea, one of the city's six bridges on the Taedong River. Located between the Okryu Bridge to the south and Chongryu Bridge to the north, it connects Moranbong-guyok on the right (west) bank of the Taedong River with Taedonggang-guyok on the left bank, passing through Rungnado Island in the middle. It totals 1,070 metres in length. It was completed in 1988. An image of the bridge appeared on the reverse of 500-won banknotes from 1992.
Rungnado
Rungna Islet is an islet in Pyongyang, North Korea, located in the middle of the Taedong River. Its total area is 1.3 square kilometres . The Chongryu Bridge on the north side and the Rungna Bridge on the south side connect the islet to the rest of Pyongyang. The islet is a good place to see some of the Eight Views of Pyongyang. Recreational facilities on the islet include the Rungnado May Day Stadium.
Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea
The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (조선로동당 중앙위) is the leadership body of the Workers' Party of Korea. According to Party rules, the Central Committee directs the Party work between the Party Congresses. It is elected by the Party Congress itself, although Party conferences can be called to perform this duty as well.
Pyongyang Department Store No. 1
The Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 (also known as Paradise Department Store) is a major retail store in Pyongyang, North Korea. Located in downtown Pyongyang, it is one of the largest retail stores in the country and is often the site of large commodity exhibitions. The store offers a wide variety of items including foodstuffs, electronics, clothing, and furniture. As of 2013, approximately 70% of the items in the store are produced domestically.
