Supreme People's Assembly

The Supreme People's Assembly (Hangul: 최고 인민 회의) is the unicameral parliament of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. It consists of one deputy from each of 687 constituencies, elected to five-year terms. North Korea is a single-party state with the Workers' Party of Korea in power. Although two other parties exist, they are completely subservient to the WPK, which is granted a monopoly of power under the constitution.

Kim Il-sung University

Kim Il-sung University, founded on October 1, 1946, is the first university built in North Korea. It is located on a 37-acre campus in Pyongyang, the nation's capital. Along with the main academic buildings, the campus contains 10 separate offices, 50 laboratories, libraries, museums, a printing press, a R&D center, dormitories, and a hospital. During the Korean War the university was located at Baeksong-ri under Mt. Jamo in Suncheon-gun, which was far from the center of the city.

List of airports in North Korea

This is a list of airports in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. North Korea may have as many as 78 usable airfields, although the state's secrecy makes it difficult to ascertain their number and condition with certainty. The state carrier, Air Koryo, joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the late 1990s, and North Korea has proclaimed a program to upgrade several airports to international standards.

Pyongyang TV Tower

Pyongyang TV Tower is a free-standing concrete TV tower with an observation deck and a panorama restaurant at a height of 150 metres in Pyongyang, North Korea. It was built in April 1967 for enhancing the broadcasting area, which was very poor at the time, and because of the start of color TV broadcasts. It is mostly used for tourism. The Pyongyang TV Tower is heavily based on the design of the Ostankino Tower in Moscow, which was built at the same time.

Liberation Monument

The Liberation Monument is a monument in Pyongyang, North Korea. It was built in 1947 to honour Red Army soldiers who took part in liberating Korea from Imperial Japanese occupation during the final stage of the Second World War. Soviet paratroopers took control of Pyongyang on August 24, 1945. The monument is composed of a stele surmounted by a five-pointed red star, with the entire structure attaining a height of 30 meters.

Arch of Triumph (Pyongyang)

The Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang was built to commemorate the Korean resistance to Japan from 1925 to 1945. Built in 1982 on the Triumph Return Square at the foot of Moran Hill (모란봉) in the North Korean capital city of Pyongyang, the monument was built to honour and glorify President Kim Il-sung's role in the military resistance for Korean independence.

Moranbong

Moranbong (Moran Hill) is located in the central part of Pyongyang, the capital of the North Korea. The hill is noted for its curious features and scenery, as well as its political significance. The hill is associated with the revolutionary history of President Kim Il-sung, leader Kim Jong Il and his wife Kim Jong Suk. At the foot of the hill Kim Il-sung in the 1940s allegedly gave a public speech after returning from exile. There are multiple monumental structures located on Moran Hill.

Potonggang-guyok

Potonggang-guyok is one of the 19 districts, or guyok, of Pyongyang, North Korea. It is most famous as the location of the Ryugyong Hotel. It is named after the Pothong River (literally "the simple river"), which serves as the district's border on all sides. It is bordered to the north by Hyongjesan-guyok, to the east by Sosong and Moranbong-guyoks, to the south by Pyongchon and Chung-guyoks, and to the west by Mangyongdae-guyok.

Moranbong-guyok

Moranbong-guyŏk, or the Moranbong District, is one of the 19 guyŏk which constitute the city of Pyongyang, North Korea. It is located north of Chung-guyok, the city's central district, and is bordered to the north by Sosong and Taesong-guyoks, to the east by the Taedong River, and the west by the Potong River and Potonggang-guyok. It is named after Moran Hill located in the district's west area. It was designated a guyŏk in October 1960 by the Pyongyang City People's Committee.

Potongmun

Potong Gate is the western gate of the inner complex of the walled city of Pyongyang. It was originally built in the sixth century as an official Koguryo construction, and was later rebuilt in 1473. It features a granite base topped by a two-story pavilion. The gate's pavilion was destroyed by American bombings during the destruction of Pyongyang in Korean War, but was later reconstructed in 1955. It is listed as National Treasures #3 in North Korea.

Okryugwan

Rungna Bridge

The Rungna Bridge is a bridge in Pyongyang, North Korea, one of the city's six bridges on the Taedong River. Located between the Okryu Bridge to the south and Chongryu Bridge to the north, it connects Moranbong-guyok on the right (west) bank of the Taedong River with Taedonggang-guyok on the left bank, passing through Rungnado Island in the middle. It totals 1,070 metres in length. It was completed in 1988. An image of the bridge appeared on the reverse of 500-won banknotes from 1992.

Rungnado

Rungna Islet is an islet in Pyongyang, North Korea, located in the middle of the Taedong River. Its total area is 1.3 square kilometres . The Chongryu Bridge on the north side and the Rungna Bridge on the south side connect the islet to the rest of Pyongyang. The islet is a good place to see some of the Eight Views of Pyongyang. Recreational facilities on the islet include the Rungnado May Day Stadium.

Kaeson Youth Park

The Kaeson Youth Park is an amusement park located in Pyongyang, North Korea. Opening in 1984, the park is located near the Kim Il Sung Stadium and in the west foot of Moran Hill. The carousel, fun house and amusement park rides like the ferris wheel comprise an area of 40 ha. The parks was erected as part of the Triumphal Arch dedication. It has been previously been described as being in poor repair.
