Leiden University
Leiden University, located in the city of Leiden, is the oldest university in the Netherlands. The university was founded in 1575 by William, Prince of Orange, leader of the Dutch Revolt in the Eighty Years' War. The Dutch Royal Family and Leiden University still have a close relationship; Queens Juliana and Beatrix and crown-prince Willem-Alexander were former students. Leiden University has six faculties, over 50 departments and enjoys an outstanding international reputation.
Leiden University Medical Center
The Leiden University Medical Center or LUMC, is the university hospital affiliated with Leiden University, of which it forms the medical faculty. It resulted from the merger of the Academisch Ziekenhuis Leiden (Leiden Academic Hospital) and the medical faculty of Leiden University in the late 1990s, forming an academic health science centre. Similar arrangements exist for most university hospitals in the Netherlands.
Leiden Observatory
Leiden Observatory (Sterrewacht Leiden in Dutch) is an astronomical observatory in the city of Leiden, Netherlands. It was established by Leiden University in 1633, to house the quadrant of Snellius, and is the oldest operating University observatory in the world (before this, astronomy taught at medieval universities tended to be of a more theoretical nature, and any observations were usually done with private equipment rather than at University observatories —see this timeline).

The Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie (National Museum of Natural History) was a museum on the Rapenburg in Leiden, The Netherlands. It was founded in 1820 by Royal Decree from a merger of several existing collections. This happened on the initiative of Coenraad Jacob Temminck, who saw the museum primarily as a research institute for the University of Leiden.
Pieterskerk, Leiden
The Pieterskerk is a late-Gothic church in Leiden dedicated to Saint Peter. It is best known today as the church of the Pilgrim Fathers where John Robinson was buried.
Bibliotheca Thysiana
The Bibliotheca Thysiana was erected in 1655 to house the book collection of the lawyer Johannes Thysius (1621–1653). Upon his early death, he left a legacy of 20,000 guilders for the building of a public library ("tot publycque dienst der studie") with a custodian's dwelling. Designed by the architect Arent van ‘s-Gravensande, the building follows the Dutch Classical style and is regarded as one of the jewels of Dutch 17th century architecture.

The Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) is an institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University in the Netherlands. The main area of work is research and education in the multidisciplinary field of environmental sciences. In 2009 the tenured and non tenured staff consists of about 28 fte including 4,5 fte supporting staff.
Vrouwekerk
The Vrouwekerk ("Lady's Church") or Vrouwenkerk ("Ladies' Church"), originally known as the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk ("Church of Our Lady"), was a 14th-Century church in the Dutch city of Leiden. In the early 17th Century, the church was attended by the Pilgrims (who left Leiden to settle in Plymouth Colony) as well as by the first colonists to settle on Manhattan.

The Corpus Museum is a human biology interactive museum, located near Oegstgeest in the Netherlands. Billed as "a journey through the human body", the museum provides both education and entertainment through a combination of permanent and variable collections. Opened in 2008 by Queen Beatrix, the museum is the world's first museum of its type.
Museum De Lakenhal
Museum De Lakenhal is a city museum of fine arts in Leiden, the Netherlands. The museum hosts a collection of altarpieces and religious artifacts from before the Protestant Revolution that were formally ceded to the state in 1572, but it is mainly of interest for its collection of fijnschilder paintings from the Dutch Golden Age.
Weigh House (Leiden)
The Leiden Weigh House (De Waag in Dutch) is a Rijksmonument located on Aalmarkt street (nr. 21). It was designed by Pieter Post around 1657 and opened in 1659. For centuries, merchants came here to weigh and trade a variety of goods. In addition to being a weigh house, the Leiden Weigh House has hosted a variety of engagements and stately celebrations over the centuries. Notably, Govert Bidloo converted an attic room into an autopsy room to study the human body.
Gemeenlandshuis van Rijnland
The Gemeenlandshuis van Rijnland on the Breestraat in Leiden is the oldest Gemeenlandshuis of the Netherlands that kept its function until the current century. Currently, it is still in use by the Hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland, but only for meetings and special occasions. Their day-to-day seat of water management is housed today on the Archimedesweg in Leiden.
Leidse Hout
The Leidse Hout is a public urban park in Leiden, Netherlands. It is located between the border of Oegstgeest, approximately 1.5 kilometers northwest of the Leiden city center, and on the northern border of the Leiden Diaconessenhuis hospital. The park was opened on June 30, 1931 and was the product of a governmental program that provided work for the unemployed during the Great Depression. A tea house, deer park, and a music pavilion is incorporated into the park.

The Marekerk is a Protestant church in Leiden, located at the Lange Mare and the Oude Vest canal. The church can be easily seen from the Oude Vest and the Burcht van Leiden by its round dome.
De Beukenhof
De Beukenhof is a hotel-restaurant located in Oegstgeest in the Netherlands. It is a former fine dining restaurant that was awarded one or two Michelin stars since 1957 up to 1995. GaultMillau awarded them 13.0 points (out of 20). Head chef in the time of the Michelin stars was Coos Fulpen. He retired in 1995.
Oudt Leyden
Oudt Leyden is a restaurant located in Leiden in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant turned pancake-restaurant, that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 1957-1979 and 1985-1989. Oudt Leyden is one of the founders of Alliance Gastronomique Neerlandaise. In 1967, owner was S.M. Borgerding.
SieboldHuis
The SieboldHuis (Siebold House) is a museum located at the Rapenburg in Leiden, Netherlands. It displays items that were collected by Philipp Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) between 1823 and 1829 during his stay at Dejima, the Dutch trade colony nearby Nagasaki in Japan. It also functions as a museum of Japanese culture. Siebold was highly interested in all aspects of Japanese nature and culture, and as such his collection is very diverse.
