Vilnius
Vilnius (see also other names) is the capital of Lithuania, and its largest city, with a population of 535,091 (809,225 together with Vilnius County) as of 2011. It is located in the southeast of the country. It is the second biggest city of the Baltic states, after Riga. Vilnius is the seat of the Vilnius city municipality and of the Vilnius district municipality. It is also the capital of Vilnius County.

Vilna Ghetto
The Vilna Ghetto, Vilnius Ghetto or Wilno Ghetto was a World War II Jewish ghetto established and operated by Nazi Germany in the city of Vilnius in the territory of Nazi-administered Reichskommissariat Ostland. During roughly two years of its existence, starvation, disease, street executions, maltreatment and deportations to concentration camps and extermination camps reduced the population of the ghetto from an estimated 40,000 to zero.
Presidential Palace, Vilnius
The Presidential Palace, located in Vilnius Old Town, is the official office and eventual official residence of the President of Lithuania. The palace dates back to the 14th century and during its history it has undergone various reconstructions, supervised by prominent architects, including Laurynas Gucevičius and Vasily Stasov. In 1997 the palace became the official seat of the President of Lithuania.
Great Synagogue of Vilna
The Great Synagogue of Vilna which once stood at the end of Jewish Street (I-2), Vilnius, Lithuania, was built between 1630-1633 after permission was granted to construct a synagogue from stone. Standing on the spot of an existing synagogue built in 1572, the site had first been used to house a Jewish house of prayer in 1440.

European Humanities University (Belarusian: Еўрапейскі гуманітарны ўніверсітэт, Lithuanian: Europos Humanitarinis Universitetas) is a private, non-profit liberal arts university founded in Minsk, Belarus in 1992. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, EHU has been headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania since authorities expelled it from Belarus in 2004. The university intends to return to Minsk.
St. Nicholas Church, Vilnius
St. Nicholas Church (Lithuanian: Šv. Mikalojaus bažnyčia) is the oldest surviving church in Lithuania, built in the Old Town of the capital city Vilnius. Originally built in the 14th century, it is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1387. Archaeologists believe that the same Roman Catholic church survived till the present day. Externally, the church represents the Brick Gothic style, while its interior has been renovated several times.
All Saints Church, Vilnius
All Saints Church is a Baroque style church in Vilnius, Lithuania. All Saints church was built between 1620-1630 and was adopted for Carmelites' needs. In the second half of the 17th century, the church was linked with a monastery and formed a single complex. The bell tower is high and massive with elaborate decorations. After a fire in the 18th century, it was restored and finished with a rococo-style dome roof.
Daukanto Square
Daukantas Square in Vilnius, Lithuania is located in the Old Town, in front of the Presidential Palace. Its name commemorates a progenitor of the 19th-century Lithuanian national revival, Simonas Daukantas. In the late 19th century it had a monument of Mikhail Nikolayevich Muravyov-Vilensky. The square hosts state ceremonies. It has also been the site of demonstrations and rallies.
Vilnius Jesuit High School
Vilnius Jesuit High School is a Lithuanian gymnasium led by members of the Jesuit order. It is considered to be one of the most renowned schools in Lithuania and is aided by the German Foreign Office. The current headmaster is Br. Virgilijus Saulius SJ.
Vilnius University Library
Vilnius University Library or VU Library (also VUL) is the oldest and one of the largest academic libraries of Lithuania. It was founded in 1570 by the Jesuits and as such is nine years older than Vilnius University. VU Library holds 5.4 million documents on shelves measuring 166 kilometres in length. The holdings, accessible to members of the university and wider public, include some of the oldest manuscripts, incunabula and engravings in Lithuania and Eastern Europe.
Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania
The Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos gyventojų genocido ir rezistencijos tyrimo centras or LGGRTC) is a state research institute in Lithuania dedicated to investigation of the crimes against humanity and other persecutions during the Soviet and Nazi occupations (1940–1990), including mass deportations, the Holocaust in Lithuania, and annihilation of the Lithuanian partisans.
St. Paraskeva Church, Vilnius
St. Paraskeva Church is an Orthodox church in Vilnius. The first Orthodox church of St. Paraskeva was constructed on demand of prince Algirdas' first wife, a Vitebsk princess Maria, who was subsequently buried there in 1346. According to the legend, the church was built on the site of a temple to the pagan god, Ragutis. This church was completely destroyed by fire in 1557 and rebuilt three years later, but burned down again in 1611. Although ruined, it was given to the uniate parish.
St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Vilnius
St. Nicholas Church is one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Vilnius, Lithuania. According to a popular legend, the first wooden Orthodox chapel located on the place of today's St. Nicholas church was built around 1340. Seven years later, the Vilnius martyrs were supposedly buried there. However, in 1350, Uliana of Tver, the second wife of prince Algirdas, ordered to build a new brick church. In 1514 this church was again replaced with a larger one.
